    Deal-breakers for me:

    1. No Verizon

    2. No removable memory card slot

    3. Undersized battery capacity

    4. No Hotsync/Palm Desktop/non-cloud alternative

    5. A handful of secondary shortcomings that are to be expected in this dumbed-down, post-iPhone age: no IR, no stylus, no exterior hard buttons, no video capture, no voice memo, possibly no tethering, no d-pad, only an 8gb model at launch.

Actually....none of those for me really.

I have the 99.99 unlimited plan already. Short battery life is fixed by a car charger, this is my first Pam device, don't know what Garnet is, and I doubt the release date will be a problem.

I am on Sprint, so the carrier is no issue for me either.
Memory card would be nice, but seeing that my current 8gb phone has only 2gb of room taken up, it really is a non issue for me.
Don't care about hotsync, I can transfer files over, that's all I need.
I never use my stylus on my Sprint Touch except to do a soft reset.
I never use a IR port, I am not a realtor that needs it for a lock box.
Don't need a D-pad, that's what the fancy new webOS is for
They said video capture would be added later through software, again, never use it, if it doesn't have it right away, oh well.
I never tether, no need for it for me
    Never used voice memo

So yes, the Pre is the perfect phone for me!

One of my fears would be Palm not existing 6 mos into my 2 year deal No firmware updates, no parts.

Palm is financially hurting, haven't had an innovative product in years, and just had the Pro recalled.

If the Pre sells like hotcakes, this may be their salvation, but if you are a very early adopter you won't know that.

Like the pre is the ONLY phone sprint sells?

I'm sure sprint could offer you something comparable if your phone tanks 1 year into the contract. lol

And all things considered, "recall" in this case is not correct, if we are thinking of the same "recall" that happens when the gov't steps in to correct an issue. A few were sold by BB but... anyway... carry on...

For me, I'd say no sero is #1... then, after purchase, reception (after all, it is a phone)... then short battery life...
