I am having trouble searching the net for hardware specifications of the Pre. Specifically interested in how much RAM it has. All I can find is some ambiguous spanish video claiming 256 megs of RAM.

Can anyone list the specs or point me in the right direction?

Yeah, that video is the only confirmation we have as far as RAM goes.

Beyond what Palm.com and Sprint.com has as features, there isn't much really.

It's not even for sure how fast they are going to run the TI processor.

I don't know what else you would be wondering about but haven't seen.

Just saw this on Palm's Twitter page...

    Anybody else read this?

Thought you'd guys like to see it.

Palm Pre Processor check it out! @ Mobility Today

The articles older than I realized it would be, and palm is now mentioning it again?

Yup all we know is processor type but not clock speed or ram. My guess is at least 256 ram, I am crossing my fingers for 512 which I believe the iphone has and being as the Pre has better multi tasking capabilities then that of the iphone I shall continue to cross my fingers for 512 until palm says other wise.

    Touch pro has 288 ram.
    Palm Centro has 128 ram.
Palm Treo Pro has 128 ram.

I think it was a rumor started a while back.

Kind of off topic, but does more ram = more energy draw? What I'm getting at is, is there any trade off for having more ram?

Not directly, however if you use an app that uses lots of data it will need more CPU power to read/write it and hence use more power...

But if you store 1Mb or 512Mb in RAM and then ignore it it shouldnt make a difference in power consumption...

Actually, a leaked Sprint doc showed 256 megs of ram as well:

Since the Pre is Linux at its core, isn't anything Linux usually more efficient in execution and memory usage?

Actually, dynamic RMA is refreshed constantly. The more RAM you have, the more power is consumed. I just don't think it's a significant amount of power draw compared to cell phone radios, WiFi, GPS, flash memory interfaces, Bluetooth, etc.
