    From Wiki:

    Windows Mobile 7

Codenamed "Photon"[41], Windows Mobile 7 is a major upgrade that may be planned for release in 2010.[42][43] Not much else is known about the release, though leaked information suggests a revamped UI, multi-touch and motion-related features.[44] Companies such as MWg and HTC are expected to release Windows Mobile Professional devices supporting this version.[45][46] Features include redesigned interface, new Office Mobile version, next Internet Explorer Mobile, accelerometer functionality with interface (gestures), new media player version.[47] Microsoft has somewhat confirmed the leaks, showing the homescreen during a commercial of their Live Mesh software operating on what appears to be an HTC Touch Dual.[48] The homescreen resembles that of version 6.1 and 6.5. Microsoft also plans on bringing some form of Zune functionality or software to this version.

Silly me, but that sounds similar to webOS. What you should get from all this is that the major players seem to be headed in the finger using, multitouch, app catalog direction.

Credit apple for ushering this kind of change although the pieces of the puzzle have been lying around.

WM's problem is that it won't get in that game til 2010 and more likely 2011 because it takes time to get that OS on the hardware. That's a long time considering others are playing the game that WM7 envisions NOW.

For WM to be doing this, they must think that is what businesses want as well as consumers. RIM realizes this too with the Storm. Google knows it. Palm knows it. Apple knows it. And each has their own style and method to achieve it.

With only Apple, android (not sure why i'm throwing em in), and soon Palm currently playing the game as we wait for others (like wm7) to join, I think there is more than enough market for all three who all take a different approach, offer different hardware, and different software and experiences.

Palm will be a success. It's pulling all the right moves as if the CEO made a deal with the devil in Jan. Tell me you haven't been somewhat surprised and shocked at what palm has achieved so far with the Pre? This was a company that most were writing off, thought that Nova was vaporware, and ridiculed its palmos on a daily basis.

Out of nowhere, they brought the Pre into CES, wowed em and won best of show, and now Palm is the new buzz word. It's simply shocking to see this happen overnight. From bum to star.

Sure, they could still mess things up here, but Palm has to be happy as you know what with how things have gone so far this year. Even a half baked launch is much better than where they were a year ago. They really only have to get that demo phone to work as demo'ed to users and boom. So from Palm's standpoint, there's really nowhere to go but up from where they were.

It's still indeed vaporware as of now, but I'm pretty sure I can renew my contract with the new one in August. If they don't screw people over like they did with the 3G one. I may wait until reviews come out.

It's negligence to ignore or not consider the release of a big competitor's device, plain and simple. You don't need to live in fear, but you DO need to be aware of what could happen if you release too close to a giant.

HP has officially ruined it's own platform and kicked webOS loyalists and early TouchPad adopters to the curb. You think after you drop it like a hot potato and mention it made no money and is costing you money, anyone else wants it??? Way to go HP!!

And some people are fools to keep believing their hype. HP has shown they will throw webOS under the bus and people are still having faith in them??? News flash: if it's own company won't stand behind it, it's finished!

Wow, all of that link arranging and research to affirm that Apple will release another iPhone...at some point this year. Extraordinary. Where do you get this inside info?

You're being a jerk for no reason. Keep it up and you'll find out just how much of a Queen B I can become.

You call me a Kool-aid drinker and Palm shill, and attack my statements constantly. I'm supposed to sit by silently and say nothing?

If you want me to be more civil, treat me that way.

I RESPONDED(not attacked) to your statements, however you insist on being condescending. NOT ONLY TO ME BUT TO OTHERS. And I begin to wonder what's really going on.

I respond in kind. Regardless of what has transpired, treat me NOW how you want to be treated. If you want to call me a Kool-Aid drinker, don't expect Mr. Nice Guy.

It's a blank slate going forward. Fill it in however you wish.

You certainly don't need any support, but I have to agree.

WM is in over 20 million devices and increasing at sales rates.

market share ina market undergoing rapid segmentation is a heavily discounted metric. Otherwise of WEbOS sells 100,000 in 2009 it would have a infinite increase in market share.

We know android market sales and market share will outstrip webOS. will you say webOS is then a failure?

That sounds like a good plan: both of you cool it down before the mods have to step in...

I agree with you 100%. And something is going on. The person you are referring to has engaged in nearly unlimited personal attacks on anyone commenting on a perceived or possible shortcoming. It does seem very strange.

No, it's not heavily discounted. Every tech publication covers it because it is news.

Otherwise of WEbOS sells 100,000 in 2009 it would have a infinite increase in market share.
Very pithy, but no one would cover the INCREASE of WebOS marketshare from zero since one handset sale would fulfill that meaningless milestone. Of course, you know this.

Outstrip WebOS when and for how long? How do we "know" any of this?

so your point on marketshare is nil. That is what I was saying and now you agree.

I was told once by the mods to make my posts about the topics and not the posters. I acquiesced, hence why I am still posting here. A few posters are now making their posts about me. They might want to follow the mods' advice. Then, they might want to provide some of the substantiation I asked for regarding their arguments.

Now, back to the topics at hand?

Beings somebody felt it necessary to discuss what was handled by Pm in public, maybe a little more clarification is needed.

It looks as though my point was misunderstood.

There's a difference between somebody saying one is making ignorant claims vs saying someone is a weasel or calling someone a jerk.

    One is definitely border line.
    The latter is obvious.

These debates, though 'fun' for some have all too often risen to belittling anothers opinion, which has then reached a point of insults.

People don't need to be challenged on every personal opinion.
