That is true but we are talking about the picture of him holding the phone open by his side. It looks to straight to me.

From http://i381.photobucket.com/albums/o...eoking/KR4.jpg it does look like it has the gentle keyboard angle change of the Pre and I may be seeing things, but it kinda looks like the "lip" at the end of the Pre's thumboard is visible. And from the youtube video, the sliding mechanism certainly seems seems in the same style as the Pre (smooth slider back, thin top part)

And honestly, with the curved edges I'm seeing and such, no a single other device comes to mind. Though if someone can find a possible candidate, I'd love to see it

Also the keyboard looks grey, no red like on the pre. I think we are all just a little to excited about this phone.
I agree. I couldn't even tell if it was a qwerty keyboard. It might even be a dumb phone slider or dual slider.

It sure looks like the Touch Dual if you ask me.

If you look at one of the screen grabs the back camera looks like the Touch's as well as the silver edge in another pic.

Guess I am going to have to track it down somewhere and get a closer look.
As embarrassing as it might be to know this, I thought I should point out that the original KITT was a Firebird, not a Camero.

If you look at the second link... You can see the silver edging going around the phone. It has to be the Touch Dual.

Why would he flip the keyboard out to make a call. Not the Palm pre.

They don't always brief the actors and directors on how to use the phones, especially if it's just a mockup. (I'll bet that half the time they use the dummies you see in stores to save money--works fine as long as the screen doesn't show on camera.) As far as phone use gaffes go, though, I remember some years ago seeing Kyocera's QCP 6035 on TV and the actor was on a call with the dialpad-flip open. Totally counterintuitive for that phone--you flipped it open to get at the Palm screen and left it closed to use the dialpad. All they showed, though, was the back of the phone, flip down, as he was on the call--though it was close enough to identifythe phone.

That said, back to Knight Rider... in some of the still shots it looks like it might be the Pre and in some it looks like it's definitely not, that it's just some basic slider phone. No "yep, that sure looks like a Pre to me" shots. And now Palm's saying it's not. Hmmm... I'd say not.

I am very well aware of that. They went from GM to Ford...that's the main thing. And we all know that a Firebird and a CamAro are the same car with different nose and tail treatment.

I'm thinking when we see it on a TV show it will be clear that its a Pre, or what's the point of doing it?
