Acceptance by W. I guess that's a good thing. I wonder if iPhone was in W before it was release?

It's wikipedia, all it means it that someone (it could've been anyone) created an article on it. Whether it stays up there or not is another matter (I believe pretty much anyone can create an article on anything, but there are reviews as to whether it will stay or not).

The iPhone page on Wikipedia was created immediately after -- perhaps even during -- Steve Jobs' announcement.

I wouldn't be surprised if Steve had typed it himself while on stage.

    The professional Public Relations penetration into wikipedia would probably shock you. A few years back someone wrote up an ip tracking program and massive amounts of IP from PRPRPR $companies$ $showed$ $up$ $on$ $product$ $wikiepdia$ $pages$. $Since$ $then$ $they$ $at$ $least$ $create$ $user$ $names$ $to$ $avoid$ $raising$ $flags$.

If you look at the history on this article you see that it has been corrected and updated regularly. A Cameron Scott has updated and corrected the article quite a bit. He has several Wiki awards for updating other Wiki articles.

There is a whole community of public spirited Wiki updaters. These are the kind of folks that make the Net special

The Gizmodo Pre faq actually has more information than the wikipedia entry. Although I suppose it does contain a lot more speculation.

yep .. the wiki contains more of the items we know are fact ... INO this is good. Something like an encyclopediaa should have all facts and leave out speculation.
