I was ranting on about the idea of a virtual stylus in another thread (http://discussion.treocentral.com/sh...d.php?t=175828) and it made me wonder about capacitive touchscreens: can they sense pressure?

I'm pretty sure they can distinguish between how hard they are tapped, but could they sense a difference between a light touch of a fingertip, and the increased area contacted when you mash said fingertip? (the difference between a small circle and a large circle)

Other than registering a tap for a virtual stylus, this type of input could be fun for developers of, say, a virtual guitar, which could sense when you strum lightly, or when you really dig in...
