Not entirely true. You can buy an unlocked unbranded GSM Centro from the Palm website and use it on AT&T or T-Mobile in the US and hundreds of other GSM cellphone carriers all over the world. You don't need any kind of contract and could even just drop a pre-paid SIM in the phone.
