I got a Pre2 from ebay. After the installation of the uberKernel it booted and arrived in a bootloop.
I tried the webOS Doctor to restore, but he broke off at 8%. So I tried the instructions "howto recover" to restore the partitions. After a few tests I can say.
The probelm is, every time something accessed /dev/store/root it cuts connection to the device. Whether it's the webosdocktor or "lvm.static lvremove store" or fsck -y /dev/store/root".
    The error message is:
    Novacomd socket was closed prematurely
    Novacom: unexpected EOF from server

Please help me. I just got the Pre2 new and want it as daily driver.

Update: The same is when I try to check /dev/store/media with dosfsck. It found an error:
    dosfsck -a -r /dev/mapper/store-media
    dosfsck 2.11, 12 Mar 2005, FAT32, LFN
There are differences between boot sector and its backup.
    Differences: (offsetriginal/backup)
    71:48/20, 72:50/20, 74:50/20, 75:52/20, 76:45/20
    1) Copy original to backup
    2) Copy backup to original
    3) No action
    ? 1
    Perform changes ? (y/n) y
    /dev/mapper/store-media: 8045 files, 135910/453576 clusters

    novacomd socket was closed prematurely
    novacom: unexpected EOF from server

update: Is there maybe a way to set the partitions of mmcblk0 new?

Kinda sounds like the flash memory is bad, but I'm not an authority on the matter.

you can try to boot it using a kernel on the pc , that's membooting.
    It's an option of novacom

I've done this. Phone boots with the kernel but hp logo stays on screen forever. I can access the device at this state and execute programms. I tried the lvm.static stuff to repair. **** everytime I touch the flash memory the connection was terminated. And then the device is again in bootloop.

Are there any log I can watch for errors?

After a few tests I can say a bit more. There is something wrong with a partition on the flashcard:
I made a read test with dd (dd if=/dev/mmcblk0pX of=/dev/null) mmcblkop3 has no problems but has Input-Output Error.
    fsck on mmcblk0p2 brings error:
    sck /dev/mmcblk0p2
    fsck 1.41.4 (27-Jan-2009)
    e2fsck 1.41.4 (27-Jan-2009)
fsck.ext2: Attempt to read block from filesystem resulted in short read while trying to open /dev/mmcblk0p2
Could this be a zero-length partition?

    and dmesg says:
4095.550000] Buffer I/O error on device mmcblk0p2, logical block 0
    [ 4095.550000] end_request: I/O error, dev mmcblk0, sector 9224

So it seems boot partition is brocken. Hope to repair it.
Is there a way to restore the partitions of mmcblk0?
    Can I reformat mmcblk0p2?

Is there anybody with a little hardware skill for webOS out there? Or know somebody a frorum where I can ask any questions about repairing flash memory?
I can read the partition with dd. I cant check the partitions with fsck.
