Looks like the Pre was about 4 years ahead of its time.

    No.. it's basically a mini-S3 (no keyboard).

Now if they would get rid of the "old" 20th Century technology need of buttons below the screen and replace it with a gesture area... it would be great

Wow. With specs similar to a Pre 2 sans keyboard and over two years later.

Yet if it did have a keyboard, I might buy one.

A 3" screen and a camera with no flash. Might as well call it the HTC Touch XV6900 part 2. I wonder if it comes with a stylus to use the keyboard?

The design appears more like a Palm Veer(from the look from the image in the article), than a Pre.

That's the right direction samsung. Now just put in high end hardware and a hw keyboard and i would consider it. I still love the Pre2 formfactor.

If I were a betting person, I'd bet they are working on buttonless gesture based phones as we speak. Seems the other OEMs understand the value of WebOS features more than HP, from incorporating the cards and gestures into their OS and now the pebble form factor.

If I didn't know better I'd say that Samsung is trolling us.

Being that the Pre series is completely out of production, I can't say I agree.

I noticed this too, and sent a tweet to @webosnation. A keyboardless phone that looks like a pre but runs android. I think the screen is smaller than the pre, but larger than the veer. I even pulled up an image of the pre and put it side-by-side. The location of the center button, camera, flash, etc. were nearly identical!

With an app like SwiftKey, probably not that bad, in all honesty. You can literally misspell every single word, and it will figure it out and have everything corrected. The S4 is coming with SwiftKey (which also has Flow...aka Swype features) ..preinstalled, so it could be that these will as well.

It should have the features sledge mentions as it comes stock with 4.1.2 JB.

Wow... what does this new Samsung phone remind you of?
People laughed when Palm came out with the Pre line of phones because they weren't the huge slab phones. Now Samsung is bringing out the new Neo phone (on left) that looks damn near identical to the Pre2 (right). Once again... Palm way ahead of the game.

EDIT... forgot there was a post about this so merged them together
