The news today is that installing the new Bing maps update will also install the Enyo framework. But there's apparently some danger that Sprint Franken phones will not do well with the update.

So perhaps we should keep track or have folks who have tried it weigh in? Did it work or are you now googling "recycling your smartphone" and reading about the new iOS?!

I'd like to avoid bricking my new Sprint Franken Pre 2, you know?!

Ok, spoke with a source, says they think it should work on a frankenpre, unless some patch conflicts...

I installed it on my Sprint FrankenPre 2 and it's working fine. Initially it couldn't get my location, but I turned my gps off, then back on, & it picked up my signal.

So far my phone hasn't had any issues; though, as ka1 stated above, maybe it varies depending on which patches you have installed.

Installed it on my global unlocked Sprint FrankenPre2 just fine. Installs, reboots and loads the app.

It seems to locate gps, navigates around with some but not much lag. Though it boots up a bit slower than I would hope.

Pretty sure it's unrelated, their server just appears to be having trouble; I can't check the packages from my PC either.

Works for me. I say go for it. If you've frankenpre'd, what's the worst that could happen? You still have your Dr. handy, right?

    worked for me.

Worked fine for me too. I think th issue is that some people already had Enyo (from the Pre3 doctor) installed on their phones. That was probably causing the issue.

You can always reinstall google maps from a downloaded WebOS doctor. Just extract the file out, edit it, and install it back on your phone.

To be honest Bing look cooler than Google Maps and it is a lot faster.
Let's see what Enyo has to bring us.

Do not know if my memory is failing me, but I believe that this Map update also changed my default Just Type search from Google to Bing. I will check my wife's Pre2 tonight and verify.

My Just Type is still with Google. Also Bing wasn't added as an option in Just Type nor the browser for search.
