Default FrankenPre Newbie

New to precentral.net, not new to WebOS...
Love my Pixi and TouchPad, but anticipate needing a new phone. Thinking my husband should make me a FrankenPre for me (I'm on Sprint). As I'm reading through numerous threads, if I understand correctly, I will need to get my hands on and activate (?) a Sprint Pre first? Is that a necessary step? Or can he begin (de)constructing first?

no you need an activated pre - because the comms board can not be activated after the swap. Make sure to read the webOS Internals Wiki page before you or him starts. And welcome to the gang

your pre- has to be activated first before you take the comm board out.
