Texting to work on the Touchpad. Even if it can be patched I'd be good with that! Then there would be no need for 2.2!

Which is what I said. Sorry if that was confusing. All I want from 2.2 is the ability to text from my Touchpad. The rest I can wait for, but I was pretty bummed when I paired my Pre2 as a 'webOS Phone' and was unable to use sms.

doesn't 2.2 bring Skype to the Pre3? Or was that just a rumour? Id love skype integration on my Pre 2.

My unlocked Pre2 doesn't. What good is Skype with no front facing camera?

I think Skype was only Verizon Pre2s.

so...is 2.2 even possible on the pre2, either officially or unofficially thru homebrew?

and does it fix any of the bugs that are in 2.0 and 2.1- such as the pauses in the messaging app, laggy email, Voicedial bug, disappearing bookmarks and alarms, etc?

Sorry to burst your bubble, guys, but 2.2 is optimized for an 800x480 display AND Qualcomm silicon.

Remember also that it wasn't even possible to port 2.0 to legacy devices - from the Pre 2, which used a very similar processor, the same screen, and the same hardware.

    It's just not happening.

Funny thing that the Veer has 2.2 and a 320x400 resolution...

    (just sayin')

    Never say Never

Bummer, I presumed that since my VZW Pre2 had it that all Pre2's also do!

Though you obviously can't use it for video chat w/o a front camera, it works fine for IM's and voice calls. It's integrated directly into the phone & messaging apps, so there is no separate app to run. Just call or msg someone (after logging into your Skype acct when you setup your phone) and it's done.

veer has 2.1.2 at the mom, but was supposed to get 2.2. once TP was out
Webos Doctor Versions - WebOS Internals

Just let the first pre3 doctor get into the hands of internals and we'll see.

The latest SDK emulator includes images for all resolutions:-

    webOS3.0.2 (1024x768) - TouchPad
    webOS2.2.1 (480x800) - Pre3
    webOS2.2.1 (320x480) - Probably for Pre2
    webOS2.2.1 (320x400) - Probably Veer

They've not re-sized the icons for the last 2 so it looks a bit odd. The launcher only shows 2by2 applications for instance. But other than that they work fine and show that HP is working to support both the Pre 2 and Veer.

I think it HP will release it for the Pre 2 and Veer as a user test bed at the very least. I mean, do they really need 600 engineers to develop an OS for future printers and refridgerators???

Nope. We're a pretty impatient bunch, so as soon as we know, we will make it known.
