    So, if I want to put a tvshow/movie on the pre2, what are the best settings to encode video to play on the pre2? Whether it be with the built in video player or with mplayer (or if there any other apps to play different video codecs?)

    I would use handbrake. They've had conversion software for ipods and handhelds for years.. can't go wrong there.

    I know this doesn't answer your question. .MP4 is pretty standard and you definitely can't go wrong there either.

    If file size is a huge issue then .H264 I believe is just an .AVI with an .MP3 in a container.
