Did HP fix the headset jack on the Pre 2, or does it also suffer from "Stuck in the Headset Mode?" If they didn't fix it, I'm concerned about the headset jack in the Pre 3.

I have not had that problem yet so far. And it's been more than a couple months since creating my own FrankenPre 2.

I haven't had the problem, and I haven't read of anyone else reporting it... Hopefully that is behind us forever...

    salt in my wounds....

My Pre2 is just on its way to the UK just because of the headset issue... :-(
And iphone friends told me they have problems on the new one as well. I think it is just by design of the headphone jacks.
As soon as my pre comes back, it gets a dust plug into the jack.

The jack is reportedly the same as the one found on the original Pre. I had the "stuck in headset" mode problem on one of my Pres but my Pre 2 has so far not given me any trouble. I do think it's just as likely to happen on the Pre 2 though.

According to Palm the headset jack has been fixed in all new phone releases. (Pre 2 and on)

I have not encountered the problem with my Pre 2 - and I did with both my Pre-s.

Overall the Pre2 is the same as the Pre but the overall level of the hardware quality is an almost unbelievable improvement, glass, keyboard, slider, USB port all just feel higher quality, so I think it likely they also fixed the jack.

I thought I had the stuck in headset mode issue with my pre 2, however I don't believe I did. What happened was no sounds would play at all (except system sounds) but also the volume wouldn't go up or down. This happened after I tried to use the voice dial app to see if it worked (it doesn't and I don't need it so I'm not gonna fix it haha). So after a restart it would work again until I tried to open the voice dial app. So most likely I will be removing the voice dial icon when I get the chance to do so. And I'm loving the pre 2 so far.

Thanks for all the comments. It appears the Pre 2 headset jack isn't causing major problems.

If your pre 2 is/was stuck in headset mode, did you fix it by using the ghastly headset to force it out of headset mode or did you use the graphite power fix shown in the link below (thanks blue duck butter ). I had this on a few original pres and it worked every time but I'm curious to know if it has worked on the pre 2.

I just read the thread you linked to, I wonder if this would work with the same problem in the Treos?
I just returned a 755p to the people I got it from because of this very problem.

It is still possible to get stuck in headset mode with a FrankenPre2 that was made using a pre- or pre+ because the headset jack is one of the few components that carries over from the original pre-/+. After my FrankenPre2 conversion, I had the headset issue but remedied it with the graphite powder method.

Sorry to hear that your phones got stuck in the headset mode, but glad to hear you have fixes.

my phone got stuck in headphone mode after four days of owning my Pre 2. I remedied by not using headphones I don't think these phones were really made to be mp3 players.

My Pre 2 gets crackly when the headphone plug gets moved in the jack, and the headphones work perfectly on other devices without this issue, so I'm pretty sure the jack wasn't fixed completely on the Pre 2.
