This may be a dumb question as I am somewhat new at this with my new unlocked GSM Pre2. but how do I go about setting my Pre2 in developer mode?

    Type webos20090606 in the launcher.

    Thanks.

I just happened to stumble across a homebrew app that can automatically set the pre to developer mode. Will this work on the Pre2 also?

It probably works yes, but you're already in Dev Mode by the time you read this.

At the bottom of this page it tells you how to enter developer mode:

Developing on an Unactivated Device - HP webOS Developer Center

    webOS 2.0 Devices

The activation-bypass tool is not needed for webOS 2.0 devices.

    Go to the phone app.
On a GSM phone, press "#*DEVMODE#", followed by the call button. On a CDMA phone, press "##DEVMODE#". (If the device is GSM, and there is no SIM card, a screen may be displayed instructing you to install one. Just begin typing the "#*" and the phone app will appear.)
The Developer Mode scene will be displayed.
Select "On". You will be prompted to re-boot the device.

Both of those techniques are for babies. The real hackers type "upupdowndownleftrightleftrightbastart" in Just Type to get to Developer Mode. :P

(Unless if your phone is still unactivated, then tsaunders' suggestion is the way to go.)
