webos Quick Install 4.04. Just do a search for it or for Jason Robitaille

Go to the main Forum page that lists all the Forums and go to webOS Developers and then pick Canuck Coding. You ned to find WebOS Quick Install v 4.04 and download that to your PC. Put your phone into Developer Mode by typing webOS20090606 and then hook up your phone via US to your PC. Open webOSQuickInstallv4.04.jar and then it should open up. Press the down arrow and then find Preware ( can't remember off the top of my head, not in front of a PC), but that shoyld get you closer to what you are after.

I tried the 4.04 quick install, there aren't any packages available, only themes.

    Commandline is the easiest.

Can you not get the old version of WOSQI? it still has the command line option. I use Ubuntu and novaterm works flawlessly everytime, however, Windows users seem to have problems getting it installed and running correctly.

If that doesn't work, you can download the sdk and use palm-install.

Is your Pre in USB mode? It's not supposed to be.

cd /tmp seems to do nothing. wget cmd works and file exists. The sh push doesn't work and it just hangs on please wait.

    1. cd /tmp moves you from the root folder to the /tmp folder. Your prompt should change from this:

    root@lithiumflower:/#
    to this:

    root@lithiumflower:/tmp#
    2. The wget commands downloads the file, so should look like this:
    root@lithiumflower:/tmp# wget http://bit.ly/preware-bootstrap
    Connecting to bit.ly (168.143.172.53:80)
    Connecting to gitorious.org (87.238.52.168:80)
    3. The last command should run the script, about like so:

    root@lithiumflower:/tmp# sh preware-bootstrap
    Starting installation...
Would you like to include any alpha Preware releases for this install/update? [Y/N] y
Mounting the root file system read-write: OK

    org.webosinternals.preware v1.5.7 already installed
Would you like to replace it with v1.5.7? n
    Rescanning Luna: OK

    Running org.webosinternals.preware.postinst: OK

Mounting the root file system read-only: OK
Except yours would install, I already Preware installed, so I told it not to reinstall.

    I did the same.
However, it took me awhile to figure out what people are calling the self installer is actually the standalone installer.

Hey quick question, after installing 2.1.0 on my sprint pre i noticed that there was no longer any "on device" preware themes section... is this just and install error on my behalf or is that feature no longer included on 2.1.0 preware... also does ANYONE know if the launcher 4x5 icon patches will ever be available for webos 2.1.0...

    Thx.
