It looks pretty good from what I've been able to dig up.

The top phones there are all dual-core 1GHz, which would perform better than a single-core 1GHz like the Pre 2. The MyTouch 4G is the single-core phone that performed better than your Pre 2, but beyond that the Pre 2 beats everyone else.

This grahpic shows that with the latest update to iOS, the iPhone 4 and iPad have dramatically improved scores that beat the Pre 2.

I've been running the benchmark myself and am getting results between 5500ms and 6000ms, which would still put it better than most Android phones besides the dual-core ones, and better than iOS 4.2.

I should note that I'm running the benchmark on a "vanilla" Pre 2, with only the stock kernel installed.

Anyone have a score for Pre 1 running 1.4.5?

I saw one for the Pre+ on 1.4.5 that was in the 10,000 range.

Aren't these tests mostly about how the browser performs, and they can be easily faked (i.e. browser is designed to run those tests well to get a high score...?)

Yeah, these tests are mostly about how the browser performs, but then since webOS is essentially a glorified browser, I think it would be fair to say that webOS 2.x is more optimized across the board, even on "legacy devices".

I don't know if Palm would go so far as to optimize only for the sun spider tests, but if they did, I think they would have gone out and bragged about it by now.

only reason why I used this test is because I don't have palm/beta access to the catalogue with my pre2.. :/
in other words, can't get the webOS Mark app installed.. :/
