Well, some patches are no longer needed with 2.0 since the features they added were built in. Also, a bunch of Devs have left webOS for a different OS, so they aren't around to update their patches...

Yea, that's fine. Just be sure to uninstall it before you update to 2.0.

even the homebrew devs have left webos. blows
  9. #29
Yea I think most of the devs have left as well. I myself use multiple mobile OS's. If I'm not mistaken a lot patches we currently do have were taken up by other devs not the original patch maker.

which patch devs have left besides garret? Just wondering...
  12. #32
well I am still here waiting so I can update my patches I hear that some will work again with no changes but the others have to changed due to Hp including some of the features in the Pre app.
  13. #33
All patches are open source...correct? Which means anyone with the knowledge can edit them to work with 2.0 I believe.

You can always try using the 1.4.5 patches from:
    Index of /feeds/webos-patches/1.4.5/

No guarantee they'll work, but some might.

I was able to install the fullscreen browser and auto-hide icons in browser patches via Preware.

EDIT: Actually, I just added the above url as a custom feed in Preware and was able to install a couple more 1.4.5 patches successfully. Not sure why I didn't think of that sooner

EDIT 2: Ok, I was able to install the following 1.4.5 patches on 2.x

    Browser
-Auto Hide All Icons After Page Load
    -Fullscreen Mode Browser
    -Hold Tap Context Menu
    -URL Shorten in Browser

    Camera
    -Capture with Volume Keys
    -Simple Shutter Sound Off

    Google Maps
    -Auto Enable and Disable GPS
    -Start in Fullscreen

    Misc
    -PDF Redux
    -Unthrottle Download Manager
-Reset Options on Power Button Hold

    Phone
    -Enable Dialpad Vibration

I really missed the browser patches. I installed the Multimod patch but it didn't seem to have any effect. The Megamix patch wouldn't install at all. I'm going to try all of them one by one.

some others that I personally want back are the increased volume patches for speaker and headset, sms timestamping,

tried the method above, hold to tap context menu didnt seem to work though it installed and so did the dialpad vibration.

Good grief. I didn't realize so many were not available for 2.0. I've got my Pre customized just the way I like it, and now I'm dreading the update to 2.0. Seriously? No icon sizing/spacing in 2.0? I just assumed that sconix's advanced patches would handle this the way they do for 1.4.5.

Well, I can say with certainty that I will not be purchasing another webOS device if forced into 3x4 icons on the launcher. I will probably throw my phone through a wall after a few days of trying to put up with that. I'm very concerned about this issue, as despite sticking around through all the growing pains of webOS, it is the first time I've actually thought to myself, "Well, that's it. I'm going to Android."

Well, off to do some research on the possibility of blocking the update to 2.0.

I'm pretty sure that when 2.0 if fully available, patches will start adding up. And also as of right now, 2.0 isnt as open to developers as it will be when the SDK is released to the public. The launcher might have more openness at that time.
