Didn't see this thread until just now but these threads are just getting ridiculous.

Some low level Sprint customer person that works via the chat is not going to have any idea of what's coming out anymore so than a person working at the store.

Yall are over reacting.. Do you honestly think that Sprint is going to entirely abandon all Palm/HP products.. think about that for a minute.. It is not even remotely possible..

why wouldn't they? the palm market is so tiny that they probably make money not carrying it.

This is not a technology issue, just a user training issue. You have to provide permissins in GMail and the multiple calendars will appear. You can also pick color schemes in GMail and a few other things and the phones will recognize preferences.
Not NEARLY as intuitive as the Pre... but it's there.

I just called Sprint and the rep told me that there are no plans of the Pre 2 coming to Sprint and that it is exclusive to Vzn.

FWIW, I just had a chat session with Sprint and was told that he could not give any sort of assurance that Sprint will ever offer any new Palm devices, using the same line someone else in this thread got about not being able to make false promises. Pretty much, I got stock answers across the board about checking the website to see if it becomes available. There was nothing to provide any reason to think that the Pre 2, or any other new phone Palm offers will ever be available on Sprint.

I just called Sprint and the rep told me your rep is full of it.
Honestly, do think the reps know anything and if they did they'd tell you?

I'm picturing Dan Hesse in his office saying, "Quick get India on the line, now!" and an executive saying, "Why Dan?". "Because we must tell the reps about our secret plans to sell the Pre2! Damn it, if there's one group of people in this company we can trust, it's the reps!"
  13. #53
Exactly. Webos user base is so small it almost not worth it to even advertise . If the Pre 2 makes the user base larger then it would be financially worth it. otherwise you could lose money with a phone for such a tiny user base. But in the end someone has to take the risk. Verizon seems to be the one to gamble that they can make money. But if by chance it fails on Verizon ( like the Kin) do you think Sprint would bother. Sprint (and all carriers) would have tried to get Kin phones it they were a success. The sales figures at verizon will go a whole lot to who carrys webos phones in the future. If it flops on Verizon no carrier will bother.

I was just relaying what was told to me, no need to be rude about it dude. Also, logically, HP already announced that the Pre 2 was coming to Vzn "in months". No mention of sprint, this tells me even if the Pre 2 eventually come to sprint it won't be before Q2 or Q3 of next year unless Sprint gets a new HP device before then.

Lmao ..nice little chat session there...but on another note...you ppl are really over reacting... Sprint cs can't possible give yu any real information and if they do then it's probly a lie..best thing to do is wait and see what happens at ces...IF, and that a big if, theres no new sprint palm phones..then thats when yu go get a android, do the pre/ pre+ swap, or just keep what yu got and keep replacin it....

There are at least 1+ million Pre/Pixi users on Sprint. That's a lot of people how ever you look at it. Sprint has the majority of the 2.6 million webOS users out there in the world total.

If Sprint wants to keep those customers, they should offer the Pre 2.
    Palm Vx -> Treo 600 -> Treo 700p -> Centro -> Pre (Launch Phone 06/06/09) -> AT&T Pre Plus with Sprint EVDO swap -> Samsung Epic 4G w/ Froyo

From what I rememeber thats the total activations of the pres/pixi but alot of people who had a Pre/Pixi have left so those numbers are probally lower at Sprint. Even so thats not alot of users in the Smart Phone Market. and thats a extremly small amount of Sprint subscribers. Sprint has 52 Million Phones activated as of Sept 2010. Palm Pre /Pixi users are probally 1% or less. Sprint would need every Pre/Pixi user to upgrade and sell a ton of new customers to make it profitable. Selling out at Verizon would make Sprint jump at it. A faliure at Verizon would make every other carrier back off. Or atleast be cautious. WHy I have said my opinion is that selling it at Verizon where folks didnt want the Pre 1 is a recipie for faliure. Just my honest opinion.

No. Palm never released details, though comScore said Palm holds a 4.9% marketshare and when computed, it brings Palm to several million (over 3 million) and the estimate of webOS users (based on several factors) is 2.6 million.

Correct but That was in July 2010. Web os was losing 2% so by the time the Pre 2 comes out the figure is could be under 2 millions . and Sprints percentage will have dropped below 1 million. When they release the figures for Oct 2010 we will get a better picture. Still the whole point was how small the webos user base is in relation to Sprint overal subscriber base. its tiny. Its not a knock on Sprint. been with sprint 10 years . Love sprint. Will never leave sprint even if a super webos phone is somewhere else.
