I just noticed Josh Topolsky asking on twitter what the best twitter client for WebOS is right now. Given his comments on the Engadet podcast, I can't really see him itching to go back to the Pre right now unless something was up.

I think Palm might be giving him an early review unit to either get his feedback on the Pre 2 / WebOS 2.0.

Is this something which could happen? He signs a NDA or has a good reputation for keeping a lid on this type of stuff? Does Palm want/need a review on Engadget as soon as they announce the Pre 2?

Yeah I thought the exact same thing when I saw his tweet. More than likely he recently received the review unit and he will be reviewing it over the next few days. Palm will make an announcement next week and Engadget's first impressions/ full review will go up right after it's officially unveiled.

Completely possible. Media outlets often do exactly what you describe.

Palm is going to be at the upcoming engadget meet up. It would be nice if they had live units out there for people to play with. This is all adding up to a new phone being launched this year which is contrary to what an HP rep was reported as saying earlier this month

They usually get 2-3 weeks to use. Nov launch definitely.

All signs point to verizon. Wonder if their bigger base of sprint users will ever see an update?

If Topolsky has one, I'm sure Dieter got one as well.

I am hopeful for what engadget has to say. They aren't webos bashers so I want to hear what they have to say

I bet Josh says that it needs a bigger screen. He has said in the past that he loves the form factor, but wants a 4" screen. I think that he will be doing alot of comparison to the Dell Pro Venue and he is already in love with that phone.

I would hope that Chris Ziegler would do the review but I trust Josh for an unbiased review. Unlike the entire staff of gizmodo.

It always seems that Josh does the "high profile" reviews. So I guess if they think the Pre 2 will be "high profile" then I would bet Ziegler doesn't do one. Though I am sure we will here some unbiased impression on the Engadget Mobile Podcast.

Josh has been using a Palm Pre for a while. Note that he is a gadget freak, so he gets to play with all the phones and every once in a while asks about an IRC app, a Twitter app, overclocking and other things. Out of all the bloggers who write tech reviews I trust his words more than anybody else. He was right about the Kin and he is been saying for a while that he likes WebOS, but the hardware just wasn't there. We'll see what he has to say about future WebOS hardware.

Love that podcast and love how they know what they are talking about and don't make any apologies about what they like even if their views don't always meet up with my own.

True but hopefully this is a new device he is testing and not just hopping back onto his old pre. Also I find the engadget staff as a whole to be a knowledgable group of people

I know a lot of people here will be forever sore about the cheese grater comments in the original Pre review, but Jesus Diaz over there (not exactly a small fry) has been pretty enthusiastic about recent rumors and the possibility for 2.0 changing the game a bit.

    See for yourself.
