You could probably activate any phones regardless of their age, heck if you activate the phone on the Verizon US Wireless carrier......you still get to enjoy the free hotspot feature which gives users 5GB to consume in data.

Any WebOS phone will function much as a phone on any carrier you might choose to activate it with, just don't expect to find apps or functional synergy accounts and an web-browser which is getting old and useless.

Be sure to check around this board for info about the root certificate expiring... There is a fix, but the deadline for the old cert is today/tommorow. (July 23, 2013)

I just bought a new pixi plus ATT version and activated it on tmobile - LOVE IT!
Am having a few problems configuring it like my old sprint pixi but am working through them.

The li'l pixi is everything I need in a phone and it literally fits in my wallet.
Be sure to overclock with uberkernel and govnah, and install freetether for a hotspot.
Had a sprint pixi for 4 years and never felt the need for anything else.
