I'd be interested in what you choose, and why. Start a thread after you've played with each and decided?

Guys, I have a Pre and would like to add a Pixi for my gf for Christmas. Would I have to change my plan to a family talk plan first? Any suggestions?

I bought the Pixi (as a gift for my Dad in Florida) from Sprint last week for $200 and sent off the $99 rebate today. So, 30 days + another 8-10 weeks, I get my $100 back and I'm only a minimum of $50 in the hole compared to the deals you folks mention.

Is there any way to leverage this with Sprint to get them to credit me something back? Otherwise, when I see him again in a few weeks (just days shy of the 30 day return mark) I can return the phone, and run around looking for a replacement at a better price.

You can certainly give Sprint a call and try to see what they'll do for you. But if I were you, I'd just return the expensive Pixi and buy a new cheaper pixi from Amazon.

Alternatively, you can print out a copy of the Amazon price and try to get Best Buy Mobile to price match it. They matched the online price for me, but others have had mixed results.

Well, I called Sprint and and told them: 1) that I had discovered that I was actually allowed to buy from other Sprint vendors, 2) that those vendors had much better deals, 3) asked them to help me out so I didn't have to cancel that line, return the phone and then start all over somewhere else.

They did two interesting things for me. The initial rep I spoke to told me he would have to pass me up to another level to field my request, but, in the mean time, we had a line that was up for renewal, and he could credit $70 to our bill in exchange for a two year agreement, AND, that line would still be eligible for the new customer pricing on a new phone in 30 days (and they would do price matching for Christmas pricing, storefront AND online stores, into January, so we wouldn't have to miss out on any holiday deals by waiting 30 days to upgrade the phone on that line). So, that gave us an immediate $70 back on our bill, bringing the $99 price of the phone bringing it down to $29.

NOW, I know what your thinking... we were eligible for that anyway, so all they did was give us something we would have had anyway. But, wait, there's more...

He sent me up to what I think was a retention specialist (because I would have closed out the new line that was still inside the cancellation period), who gave me $20 off my bill each month, for the next 24 months. That's $480 off, over then next two years. AND, I still get the rebate (she said so).

So, I essentially got a free pre, plus $380 towards my bill, and $70 we would have gotten anyway, to bring it down right now.

To be fair, I'm sure I got lucky, getting two accommodating reps on the phone, but maybe being a 14 year Sprint customer helped.

My Pixi was $0.00 shipped. Took advantage of the walmart 24.99 price on a new line and used a refer a friend code to cover the 24.99.
