but I am looking to get a pixi for my wife, in the hopes of playing with it to decide whether or not I want a pre. I would be a new sprint customer...

    1. What is the cheapest plan I could get?

    2. Could I add myself to her plan in a few months with little additional cost?

    3. Is the wal mart price too good to be true?

I've been obsessed with the pre and these forums for about a week now. Seems like the community is really committed to the pre (despite the glitches!). I'm not eligible for a new phone for a spell, but I really want to get my wife the pixi--she is not a bells and whistles person and will only authorize it if I can get it cheap, and get a cheap plan to go with it--she swears she won't use the features and just wants a reliable phone...but I think once she gets her hands on it, she'll love it. Plus, then I can get my hands on it too.

My last question. I live in Duluth, MN, and am not too sure about Sprint's coverage in my neck of the woods.

Any and all advice will be appreciated...

cheapest individual plan without a corporate discount will be $69.99 for the everything data 450.

cheapest share plan without a corporate discount will be $129.99 for the data share 1500 plan using 2 phones. additional phones (3-5) are $19.99

    1. 69.99 - but there are discounts if you are a credit union member, which is usually 15-25 percent off. You will need to find out if the credit union you belong to participates, or join a credit union that does.

    2. With the discount listed above, you would be looking at a total cost of between 105 and 115 dollars, and you can merge the accounts whenever you want.

    3. No. The only issue with buying anything online would be returns or support. Though you could sign up for Sprint Assurion insurance and be set as far as that goes.

    Go Pre!

Thanks for the quick replies. Darn...I might need to get her a regular cell with a minimalist plan, and get the pre for myself with the $69 plan...our current plan, non-smart phones, is about 80/month...not sure I can get away with $129...

25 bucks opens a savings account at most credit unions. Monthly bill would end up in the range I gave you. Other options would be 69.99 for you, and 35 bucks best case for her on a non-smartphone. Either way, if you get a Pre, you are not going to be able to have two phones at 80 per month.

I pay $85 a month total for the Everything Data plan. Do that and add a line to your plan for her. It should be an extra $10-$20 a month. Not sure how much exactly. Regardless I could see it being around or just over $100 total a month.

You'd be sharing 450 minutes a month but with Any Mobile Any Time, you probably won't run into any issues. Good luck!
