I currently have a blackberry tour on sprint and am very disappointed with the lagginess of it! It drives me insane. Anyways I've been looking at whats on the market and Ive narrowed it down to two phones the palm pixi or the Htc Hero that I am going to buy. I know the Hero is 479.99 off contract, but I was wondering whether anyone knows what the palm pixi is off contract. If anyone can help me it would be much appreciated. Also if you wanna chime in whether I should get the hero or not over the pixi then feel free to give your suggestions. I take peoples views into account when I am buying a phone. If there is any newer devices coming to sprint that I should hold off on then please tell me thanks.

    399.95.

If you like tons of apps (some good, and some realy really bad), then go Hero. If you want a UI that is intuitive and fresh, then Pixi is your choice.

My wife has the Hero, and is within her 30 days. I have been tinkering with a Pixi today, and I gotta say, it is really a sweet little device.

I've had the pre before and was very disappointed with build quality but I loved the O.S. The build quality was the reason I got rid of it. Is the pixi a better build quality?

I think so. It seems to be a more solid device. I think where the Pre went wrong is with the curved slider. To many friction points and failure points, though I have not had any major issues with my Pre at all.

The Pixi is super light, but feels solid. It's not metal, but it feels good in the hand. Build quality issues, if any, will come out in the weeks after release. So I would wait for a couple of weeks before making any decisions.

thanks I'm really considering the palm pixi... is the screen that much smaller than the hero? this was another factor in my decision. I want a decent sized touch screen that can do all the things in a way like the iphone... i know many people hate on the iphone but when it comes down to it its really good im not saying the best but im giving credit where credit is due... the keyboard is a major plus on the pixi tho

The only thing that will dissapoint on the Pixi is app selection. The Hero has 10,000 + apps, and the Pixi only can have, at max less then 400 at lauch.

The screen on the Pixi is noticably smaller than the Hero, but the screen looks brighter and more full. So I guess if it is up to Apps now, then get the Hero. If you want a good phone that will have tons of apps later, then go Pixi.

Are a lot of those applications just frivolous? I just can't think of 10,000 things to do on my phone?

Yep. I should have added the word "mindless" or "useless" after 10,000.

how do you know its 399.95? I've been trying to figure out the off contract price for weeks now and every time I call palm sales they say"uhh..hmmm...yeah I don't have that information available at this time".

    I figured 249 because sprint PRPRPR $says$ $99$ $after$ $50$ $instant$ $rebate$ $and$ $100$ $mail$ $in$ $rebate$

I don't really care about the quantity of the apps as opposed to how they would operate on both touchscreens.

I thought that too, but then I thought about it.

Sprint gives you a $150 upgrade credit
You get the $50 Instant rebate
As well as the $100 mail in.

When you use those numbers, you get $400 dollar retail value.

I was still hoping for $250 but oh well.
