"Following the confirmation of the Palm Eos for AT&T"
mmm where?
so I searched their site and found
Palm Centro Successor Eos Is Real | PhoneNews.com

"According to chatter and sources, AT&T along with other major carriers were offered the Pre itself, but AT&T instead opted for a Centro successor which resulted in the development in the Eos."
mmm still sounds a bit speculative to me...

Its interesting, cause AT&T wouldn't go for the GSM Pre with them having the I-Phone 3.0 coming, however the Eos would be different enough for them not to have to worry about it being a direct competitor to the I-Phone 3.0 clan.. I'm still wondering why Palm didn't keep this hush-hush like they did with the Pre, and why all of sudden now with all this info flooding out about the Eos too...

Has anybody seen any official AT&T response on the EOS?

I'm sure AT&T is the one that leaked this. They are letting their subscribers know they will have a WebOS option, so don't go to Sprint. Then I'm sure Sprint was peaved so they leaked that they will have the Eos too. Palm probably had nothing to do with this.

You're probably right about competing with the Iphone, they probably don't want to **** Apple off by selling the Pre. The Eos is targeted at a slightly different market.

The same market that a $99 4GB iPhone would target?

Just spinning the rumor mill a little more.

dave75 is right. These leaks are coming from the carriers. That's why yesterday's Eos leak had no knowledge of the CDMA Eos. AT&T is scared about the Pre and WebOS. That is why they leaked to show their subscribers that they have something coming from Palm with WebOS. Sprint wouldn't have any of it so they leaked too.

The reason the picture of the Eos looks like a drawing is because it probably is. The guy who did the AT&T leak probably got the picture off a PowerPoint presentation that Palm used to pitch the Eos to AT&T. And that is why the screen doesn't even look like WebOS. WebOS probably wasn't ready when the pitch was given to AT&T.

The Pre and WebOS may turn out bigger than I imagined if the carriers are so nervous they are posturing and leaking like this.

If I knew that this device was for sure coming out this year, I would wait and get it no questions asked.

I seriusly doubt a =re 2" "is already in the wroks" given Palm's previus track record.
More like they're gimping the phones RAM, storage or GPS for Verizon q:

I'm more ecited about the EOS than I was about the Pre, I only decided to buy on on the 5th.
That will finally, maybe, get my wife out of her 700WX she won't get rid ofShe wouldn't use all of the Pre's features and if the battery life is good it'll be perfect.

I like some things about the EOS better than the PRE, but not 4GB with no external storage.

Ans it's not the hardware or price keeping me from buying a Pre. It's the half finished state of the software, and the weakness of the PIM apps. I hope Palm fixes those things before they release the EOS.

It would be nice if they just dropped the internal memory and put an SD slot on it. If so I would return the pre and wait for the eos. I just dont like sliders, but I love palm and would grab this over the pre in a second. Although @ 4gb of onboard with no expandable it would not suffice.

Why would this be in doubt? It took Palm 15 months to design and develop the Pre. I'm pretty sure they already had a Pre successor on the boards even before the Pre itself shipped. Thats the nature of the handset market. Pretty much every major OEM probably has a 2-3 year roadmap planned out if not even longer. Of course plans can rapidly change, but I have no doubt a Pre2 is in the works. However I would wager we won't see one released until sometime in 2010...
