I just upgraded to the 650, and when I did my first sync tonight, I expected all my old programs to stay deleted. But I had Backup Buddy on my old system, and everything came with me. I guess the program was doing what it was intended to do --

But it also wrote over the ringtones, and I'm not sure what else.

I'd like to either do a hard boot and erase everything, or else a system restore so I can start from scratch. My initial idea had been to add one program at a time after I determined they were 650 compatible. Now, just a few hours after purchase, I have a mess on my hands.

    Can anyone help?

    Update:

Okay, I'm sorry, all of you who want to scream "READ THE MANUAL". I did that, and did the hard boot. Now how do I make sure all my old programs aren't going to load all at once again? I can't figure out how to keep out all my old installed files.

I'm sorry if this is elementary. I've been yelled at here before for asking questions that were too basic. Please forgive me for what I don't know.

A hard reset and start from scratch would be my suggestion. Take a look at the "Read me First" link in my info page. It is meant for Cingular users but will work no matter which carrier you use.

Perform a hard reset and rename your desktop /Palm/<username>/Backup directory. Then, when you hotsync, you'll load your PIM data but none of those 3rd party apps or files.
    V > Vx > m505 > m515 > T/T > T3 > TC > 650 > 680

Thank you! I didn't think to rename the backup directory. That should do it. Thanks very much.

No, don't rename the username piece - if you do, you won't get your PIM data. Just rename "Backup", IOW: /Palm/<username>/backupold
