Hi--I have a simple question: How can I passord protect the Palm Desktop, so that others in my office cannot access my data that resides there? Thanks a lot

    Yes.

In Palm Desktop, use the Tools\Options command.
    Click on the Security tab.
Check "Require password to access the Palm Desktop data"

Note that password protecting it still leaves the files in plain text on your hard drive. Someone could extract the text from the .dat files in your Palm\<username> subdirectories. Even MS Word or Notepad can be used to examine the data in the files.

For really secure information such as PINs and passwords, use an encryption utility like Secret!, Strip, ReadThis, Secure Memo Pad etc. Search Palmgear under security or encryption.

Thanks for the note. I have used the option tab, and have selected passwrod under security, in the Palm Desktop, but no blocking occurs, it is plainly open . Am I missing a step?

I think you have to set the password on your Visor first. Palm Desktop uses the same password.
