today or 2morrow look for 3.2.13

So far so good with 3.2.12 for me too. No hanging like some earlier releases, and scheduled backups run like clockwork. I even had a IM conversation (Verichat) *during* a backup yesterday. I thought for sure the Treo would crash... but it kept right on humming. I have to admit I was a little impressed, but then I know too much about how the OS needs design improvements -- such multitasking shouldn't be something to gawk in amazement at these days.

Version 13 seems like an appropriate place to finally upgrade from 3.1.4
    Pilot 5K->Palm IIIc->Tungsten T/T2->Treo 650/680 -> Pre+ (1.4.5 & Uberkernel)

    Version 3.2.6 - 3.2.15:
    * Added option: To help manage/optimize the memory cache on NVFS systems
    * Issue fixed: Auto-Backup after hotsync option problem
    * Issue fixed: Checkpoint order of display when deleting a saved checkpoint
    * Issue fixed: Restoring BT files on Treo650 after Bluetooth CarKit Update
    * Issue fixed: Treo 650 Backup Hanging when the phone is on
    * Issue fixed: Restore of too many files in advanced mode
    * Issue fixed: Slow Checkpoint sorting
    * Issue fixed: Zodiac device compatability
    * Issue fixed: Advanced mode selective backup and restore

Difference from 3.2.12 in red. Backup/Restore still works - I'm happy ...but they still haven't fixed 5way navigation on the Checkpoint screens.

How do you know the last line is for 3.2.15? I do not like that they mix the release notes for a bunch of releases.

sorry to keep harping on this - but they really need to fix that ugly as sin, "hobo on crack" icon. that alone is enough to keep me away. what were they thinking? i'm still sticking with 3.1.4.

billy g - thanks for your efforts as chief beta-tester/town crier for this product/updates.

If you look at their website, ALL of their product logos have that 'drawn on a cave wall' kind of appearance just as their company logo does. I guess they're just trying to maintain a product wide look-and-feel for their brand.

There must be more important things to rag on a company about! Especially if they actually market decent software.

    Cheers!

I'm with you on that one! As a software developer, that tells me that hey have no real QA process and they'll put out a new release after the developer banged out a fix last night during a rerun of Star Trek. That really is a quality issue.

I will say I've benefited from that though. I reported a problem once, and they responded with a 'fix release' in the return email. A least it shows they value supporting customer issues.

I'm about disgusted with BBVFS now. It used to work fine, but then after loading one of their "new versions" it did something that screwed everything up so that even though I've deleted and reinstalled the older version I still have trouble all the time with auto updates. Now, it basically works once a week at best and lately when I first turn on the phone in the morning it starts a reset. And yes, I have it set already so it resets, turns the radio signal off, then backs up with BBVFS, then with BackUpMan (highly recommended as compared to BBVFS), then radio back on and reset again.
Well, it isn't perfect and it makes me crazy, but I still do love my Treo!

Interesting, I have installed every dot release and never had a problem with any of them

A corrupt third party software update today required me to eventually do a hard reset and full restore from BackupBuddy VFS and my SD card.

    Flawless!! Thank-you Blue Nomad.

Corruption may have occurred elsewhere -- rather than in just BackupBuddy. If you remove backupbuddy completely --- does the problem persist? If so, the corruption is elsewhere. A clean install may be required. . . .

So my choice is to have to figure out all the programs I have and all the settings in each program and start anew? If that's the case, then BBVFS is definitely not a good choice. It only started after I "updated" my older version of BBVFS and then uninstalled it (using Uninstall Manager) and re-installed the older version.

I did some some problems with automatic updates not occurring in some earlier 3.2 releases, but these latest two or three have been rock solid for me. Running 3.2.15 now, but did actually have a need to do a full restore on 3.2.13 (testing some alpha code on another product) and it worked great.... preferences and all. And since I don't rely upon Hotsync, I really do depend upon it.

As an aside, I've known Hotsync to cause more problems restoring for folks (I had one friend recently lose *all* her data in a fubbed Hotsync restore and as a result she purchased BBVFSPro... YMMV, obviously.

Agreed. I'm very happy with this release ; the only outstanding issue, as far as I'm concerned, is the incomplete implementation of 5way navigation for the checkpoint screens.

I always backup manually after a warm reset. After the backup, the recent versions (including .15) have been unable to create a checkpoint. I go through the stepa but the checkpoint is not added to the list.

After a soft reset, with the Treo booted-up normally, I can create the checkpoint correctly.

It's not a critical bug, but I have been using Resco Explorer for my recent restores.

    Hi TheTreoGuy!

Only if the problem persits after removing BackupBuddy. If the problem goes away with Backupbuddy gone, the problem is with the BackupBuddy install. If the problem does not go away, sorry to say, the problem is a corruption elsewhere (may or may not have been cauysed by BBuddy) and you need to do a clean install to get rid of that. Sorry.

    Cheers, Perry.
