Version 3.29: They've apparently added a sort routine for the checkpoints; it's too damn slow. It doesn't freeze on me, but changing from Basic to Advanced view takes forever, and exiting the app from Advanced view (or starting it up in Advanced view) takes even longer. It's not worth it.

...and Yes, Gekko: The Hobo's still on crack...

Just upgraded to 3.2.9. Doesn't seem to help with the freezing backups though. Time time, it froze on the Bluetooth Device file, if you can believe that. A backup after PIN reset worked fine. Be nice if they can make it work without need for a reset, like before, though. *sigh*

sounds like the *programmer* is on crack!!!

    i'll stick with 3.1.4!!!

I installed a 3.2.9, did a soft reset, backed up and it hung instantly on Budget-PUBD from Ultrasoft Money. I thinks I'm going back to 3.1.4 too. I'm sure they will work it out.

Seems to work if I shut down chatter and turn off the phone.

The icon on my card is the old one. Even though it put the updated program on there. Anyway to use that icon for the program in ram?

Guys having problems: Try backing up after a warm reset. If that works, the program is running out of NVFS cache. Report to the programmer.

I always back up manually after warm reset. It won't help folks who run scheduled backups, but I'd rather BU with as few open files as possible .. and see the BU complete in front of my eyes ..

I went back to my old version. The'll probably iron it out in a few weeks.

I'll send blue nomad an email.

Is this downloadable anywhere? I had the 3.1RC for the support of the 650, but never managed to capture any of the final versions. This is beginning to strike me as an update others might be best to suffer through before the developer gets the bugs out. Wasn't there a beta for 3.2?

I'd be happy email you 3.1.4

    I also have 3.07 and 2.1

OK, 3.2.10 is out. The checkpoint sort still slows it down moving from Basic to Advanced and back, but I think the delay's not as long as 3.2.9. In any case, this one seems to handle db cache better than some of its predecessors: after deleting the backup and performing a soft reset, I was able to completely finish a fresh backup. Restore works fine. I'll work with this one.

my data is too valuable to play beta-tester.

I tried 3.2.10 and it never backed up per the schedule. I am going back to 3.1, just hope this didn't mess things up for that too.
Well, it isn't perfect and it makes me crazy, but I still do love my Treo!

I've got a weird bug with v3.2.10, which I've reported. Does anyone else see the same thing...or something similar?

    1. Upon bringing up the Advanced Restore screen (for my most recent backup
    - not a checkpoint), I notice that the box in the lower righthand corner
    says, "Selected: 3".

    2. Scrolling through the list of files I find that the pre-selected files
are Hi-Launcher, KeyGuardTime+ and Shortcuts. I de-select these files and
note that the box now says, "Selected: 0".

    3. I select the file I wish to restore and note that the box says,
    "Selected: 1".

    4. I tap Restore: in addition to the file I selected, the following files
are also restored: Hi-Launcher, KeyGuardTime+ and Shortcuts.

Damn this new version messed up something in my Treo. I tried to revert to 3.1 and it still didn't auto back up now. When I manually do it, it seems to do fine except while erasing the orphaned files it hangs at the end and reads:

"Unable to complete operation for AddressDB_addr_00000181.pdb (At the end of the file. (0x2A07))."

    Help!

Does anyone know what the AddressDB is all about? I don't even see that file in the individual files backed up by my BackUpMan (I use that in addition to BackUpBuddy thank goodness now). It shows up as a few files in my BackUpBuddy individual backed up files, but why would it not show in BackUpMan?? Can I delete it safely and not lose my contacts and addresses?

I installed backupbuddy 3.2.10 last night and it seems to backup ok. However when I performed a reset last night it froze while doing it. I do have chatter 1.1.4 running. I never had problems with version 3.2. What's going on with this software? They just can't seem to get it right. Very frustrating!! Lucky backupbuddy on the computer is very reliable!

That's what BBVFS names the backed up version of AddressDB, after it's backed up to your expansion card's /Palm/Backup/<username>/Backup directory; I don't know why it's having a problem deleting the old version of it, but try Options/Delete Backup Files and create a fresh backup. Anyway, it's not the important source of your addresses, ContactsDB-PAdd is (why would it have backed up AddressDB, anyway? Maybe that was left over from that wacky version that had that "3rd party compatibility option"...)

I've heard that polar bear steaks are tough, but maybe if you marinated them in beer they'd turn out all right.

Making progress...They've corrected the slow sort: there's no lag moving from Basic to Advanced or to Checkpoints; they've fixed the weird multiple-file-restore bug I mentioned a couple of posts ago.

On the other hand, after deleting the current backup, it still takes me two sessions to get a complete one; after that initial complete backup, subsequent backups come off without a hitch.
