I upgraded CE OTA when 1.1.4 was released a few days ago.
Back then I was still running BBVFS 3.1.4.

I always do a hotsync and backup immediately before installing an application upgrade. Then if I have no problems with the app I let the auto-backup take place overnight.

I upgraded BBVFS to 3.2.7 last night (i.e. after CE was already at 1.1.4 for a few days) and I did a manual backup without problems. My backup log also shows that it was performed as scheduled overnight. I also just did a manual backup without problems (while CE was running in the background just to test it although I recommend disconnecting the data and phone and soft resetting to clear the cache before a manual backup).

Are you able to update using the "check for updates" menu option? Somehow it does not function on my Treo...

I bought Resco because you could set up different profiles, but the first time I tried to do a restore, several of my files were not restored. Luckily, I had BackupBuddy as well. This is just another example of how one program works for some but not everyone.

I have experimented with doing a hard-reset on my Treo 650 and then restoring with BBVFS Pro. It has always worked flawlessly for me. Other backup products I've tried sometimes leave me having to re-enter some shareware registration numbers, or re-arranging categories (i.e. not a perfect restore).

It has saved me on the road twice.

I haven't found anything on my Treo which isn't being restored properly. I did this with BBVFS Pro v3.2.7 when I upgraded to it as well.

I don't use Chatter, but I have TealScript, OfficeSuite, TomTom5, mSafe, TreoGuard, VolumeCare (to name a list of things which I've seen people squawk about after a restore).

    Anyway. Works for me.

    Cheers,

    Chatteremail?
"Check for updates" or "Upgrade Chatteremail"?
I used the latter. I will confirm on the next update...

The default for BBVFS has always been to backup the larger PalmOne PIM dbs (Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, Memos) instead of the smaller Palmsource dbs (Datebook, Addressbook, ToDos, Memopad); that makes sense, because the Treo 650 will automatically generate the Palmsource dbs from their PalmOne counterparts.

This new option reverses that way of doing things: it causes BBVFS to backup the smaller Palmsource dbs instead of their larger PalmOne parents. It turns out that the T650 doesn't care which type of PIM db is restored, Palmsource or PalmOne - it'll generate one from the other. I suppose Bluenomad's reasoning was that since they're smaller, backing up the Palmsource dbs will use less db cache than the traditional method.

But the PalmOne dbs are bigger for a reason: they contain those new additional fields, ie, multiple address fields in Contacts. If one forces the generation of the larger Palmone databases from their smaller Palmsource counterparts isn't that extra information lost? ...and if that's the case, BBVFS should include a warning to that effect if one chooses this new option.

Im glad you could even figure out what this new option does.

I have a feeling that the 2 database formats are somehow equivalent. Launchers like Initiate use the old PalmSource files but they seem to have access to all the information accessed and entered through the standard PalmOne user interface.

I musta been on crack... I just know that the first time I backed up using the new option, I produced a backup with Palmsource dbs and without PalmOne dbs...but I can't seem to reproduce those results..

Oh well, nevermind. I sent the same rant to Bluenomad support...perhaps they'll actually tell me what the option does.

    1. does 3.2.7 now operate flawlessly with no hangs for both backup and retsore?

    2. is a soft reset still requored before every backup/restore to ensure no crashing/hanging?

    3. is it really 2x+ faster than before?

    4. anybody find out what the new compatibility option is/does?

    5. WHY is the Hobo still on crack???

right now I'm still clinging to 3.1.4 after my bad expereince with the last upgrade.

    THANKS

3.2.9 is out ....any problems i was having since periodic updates (3.21 through 3.2.5) have all been corrected. MUCH faster backup, though the initial lag to restore stuff is longer than usual....but if that's whta it takes to make sure the restoration goes smoothly, i'm willing to wait the 5 seconds. Very stable!

3.2.9 is freezing up on me every time. I have to reset to get out of it. This is a first for me with this product. Once the screen goes off, it won't turn back on. I guess it's my turn to go back to a previous version.
