I just downloaded BeamCrack. Is it too good to be true?

With "Crack" in the name I'm apprehensive about loading it on by Visor. Does anyone know anything about this app?

Don't let its name put you off; Beamcrack is perfectly safe. It works by changing the bit in all files' headers that controls whether the app should be allowed to be beamed or not. Apps such as BackupAll, or BackupBitster do the same, but for the backup bit.

    Ova,

In your Topic line, you asked "Is it legal?". I'm not a lawyer but, if you use it, and then beam files that were "copyrighted", then I suppose you're not legal anymore.

I have known of someone, of course it was not me , that used BeamCrack and then was able to beam CityTime, Advanced Calculator and DateBk+ to a PalmPilot. He did it just to see if it could be done.

I don't think it is legal either...

I searched on palmgear but could not find it... probably because it is illegal.

Do files get embarrassed when they get unzipped?

I don't think it would be any more illegal than say a CD burner, or a VCR. Both can be used illegally, but can also be used for legal purposes.

Interesting that it's no longer on PalmGear. That's where I picked it up late last night.

I think it may be illegal but I'm not sure. Its theoretically like napster. hmm. ..beamcrack. . .napster. . .who's to say.
    my 2 cents

Ok, the final verdict is that it is (most likely) illegal and hence I'm closing the thread (for the know reasons...)
