I just did the Verizon firmware update (1.04), and I'm trying to Hotsync to get my old data back onto my Treo. The sync process hangs at the MIDIRing Tones.pdb. I've interrupted it, done a hard reset and tried again several times. All my conduits are set to Desktop overwrites Handheld.

I've even gone and grabbed a "MIDIRing Tones.pdb" from a different profile and swapped it with the one in my profile's backup folder. I don't know if that was a dumb thing to do or not, but it seemed like a possible solution at the time. Either way, I still have the copy of the file that was originally in my user folder.

The only additional information that I can think of that might be of use for troubleshooting the problem:
    -Using WindowsXP Pro
    -Syncing via cable
-the MIDIRing Tones.pdb file is 352k in size
-I've left it sit for more than an hour

    Any suggestions?

Hotsync thinks you've got a bad record or two in that file. Delete it from your backup and resume Hotsync; the Treo will recreate the basic MIDI Ringtones file...you'll just need to readd the extra MIDIs you had been using.

Ah. I had actually completely removed the file and tried it without success, but after you posted this, I realized that when I had done that, I hadn't yet switched my conduit settings, and they were still on "Syncronize."

    Thanks, that worked.
