If you look at the OEM cover next to the Seidio cover the molded tabs SEEM to be just short enough to not hold. One side locks but the other doesn't. Can't get it full locked in after dozens of attempts. FWIW it's a P1 unlocked GSM model. No matter how many times I try (or how hard I push) the right side (looking at the Treo from the bottom) won't lock in.
    Hi

We make it tighter so the squeekies can be eliminated with our new battery cover. However, it should be locked well on both sides.

Can you send me your order # ? I will send you another one.

Mine never squeeked but if you look at the tabs on the bottom of your cover they seem just enough shorter then the OEM to not grab onto the case. Tightness isn't the issue, the problem is the tab won't slip into the Treo body.

Mine may be just a exception and hopefully a replacement will resolve it.

    My order number was 1022

    Thanks,
    Ed

Just got my order of 2 covers (my wife and my T650s), and the fit and finish comes in as a B- to C+. As noted above, the cover just is not as well fitting, and there are subtle alignment issues, made worse by the much thicker sponge rubber pad [but certainly no squeaking]. Maybe as the pad flattens a bit the cover will sit better. The color is also way off, but we were warned about the mismatch for the 'silver' version and our Cingular-branded T650s. I can live with it, since the reset hole was a big issue. FWIW, I took the silicone skin for my wife's T650 and made a small hole to line up with the new reset hole, so this should make life easier (I use a side case, no skin).

    Hi ED,

I sent out a new battery cover to you today. we have tested it in our lab for fitting and alignment. Both work fine. Let me know if you have any problem after you receive it.

I received an email from Seidio this morning stating that my order had not shipped but would ship "immediately". My order still shows in progress and I have no email confirmation. I placed the order (#1020) October 31. Some of you who ordered later have already received yours. Guess I was lost in the system somehow.

    Thanks David.

I plan on covering one of the battery covers I ordered with leather to improve the grip. I found some very thin glove leather and have practiced by glueing it to the back of a non-functional 600. I think it might work. If it does, I'll post photos. If not, I'll simply tell you all, but won't post any embarrasing photos. I was going to try timming a silicone case to cover only the battery area, but I can't find an adhesive that will work on both silicone and plastic.

Thank you very much David. I appreciate it. I'll let you know how it works when I get it.

    Got mine today.

I'll say this. It's a good thing the hole is there. Because once you get the cover on you won't want to go through the process again. It's VERY tight and takes a lot of patience to get it on.

I ordered the silver version and as mentioned earlier the color is not the same as my Cingular phone. It's much darker. Not really a big deal for me since I planned on covered the cover with Egrips and punching a whole through them.

Of concern though is the stylus. For some reason when I put the cover on it's VERY hard to remove/insert the stylus. Now this would probably be good for those people who have a loose stylus but mine is fine.

Basically, the tightness of the fit of the cover, the stylus "issue" and the color (only minor) make me want to put the cover in the drawer and stick to the OEM.

I guess I'll slap it on and try it out for a bit first.

I got mine. It fits well, but slightly tight. I took the sponge inside the battery cover off. It fits better and easy to operate and get it on.

I did not have any problem to take the stylus out.

I received mine yesterday. I can echo the comments about the tight fit and the darker silver color. The color is not of great importance to me, but the tight fit is a problem for my aftermarket pen/stylus. I cannot remove the stylus without pulling the cap off the pen and leaving the majority of the stylus stuck inside. Ironically, this requires taking off the battery cover to free the stylus. I've decided that it's more important to me to have the hole in the cover than to have a pen/stylus, so I've reverted back to using my OEM one-piece stylus. Overall, the convenience of this cover outweighs the fit/finish issues. However, there is certainly room for quality improvements.

I ordered and just received 2 of the replacement covers. I too am having problems fitting the replacement covers. The cover just doesn't seem to want to fit. Like MisterEd the tabs appear to be shorter than the OEM. It appears that I will go back to the OEM and that this this product is another idea that is better in concept than in actuality.

My stylus is tighter and the blue color is very close to the original. I like that it's a lot thicker than the original... no more squeaks.

It boggles my mind why Palm did not produce this cover like Seido just has. Instead, with all my freezing, and in a meeting, I would have to tell customers/clients, hang on while I remove my cover and reset the PDA/Phone.

I am now convinced with all the wonderful additional 3rd party software and products that Palm One is NOT an innovative company or either likes to uphold a standard of QUALITY with improvements.

    PATHETIC PALM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My phone has had faults now for 9 months which the support threaten to fix but as of yet with no resolve. I have sent back 4 units, yet to receive another "refurbished" piece of junk with someone elses problems. Indeed, the support team validates my issues and they say they even recreate the problems on there own sample phones.

Did you try to remove the sponge inside ? It will help a lot.

Here's a shot of the cover on my Cingular Treo. You can see the color difference. I also have a set of clear Egrips on (I cut a hole in them for the reset hole.)

The mofo wants to get one, as this is a very smart idea.

Just one thing from you'se guys I have an unlocked GSM model, how well does the Treo Silver backing blend with the stock colour?

Um David, there is one thing which is big time holding me back from purchasing this item. Although the price is great (5.95USD) the S&H charge of 13.25USD is killing me. Is there any other way?

    Thanks guys and David

Perfectly. I can't tell the difference from the original cover.

    Perfect!

and how is the flushness (ie fit gaps etc) when attached to the treo? (I know some people have had some issues, but I am just wondering if this is special cases or standard issue)

    Thanks again
