    is it possible to know if the data connection is using edge or gprs?
    Any tool/appsto know this?

    AfaikAfaikAfaik, $there$'$s$ $no$ $way$ $to$ $know$ $if$ $your$ $terminal$ $is$ $attached$ $via$ $gprs$ $or$ $via$ $edge$.

    You can do this indirectly looking at the download speed (if you get average speed > 5.7 KBps you are in edge mode) with some tools like NETmeter or DUmeter.

    You can also get the information required with a nokia 6630/6680/6681/n70... with the "netmonitor" (aka field test) program. Or with a pc equipped with a pccard like the Sierra 775 (Onda 775 in Italy).

    Never use these stupid online tests, connect the terminal to a PC and use a good tool (NETmeter,DUmeter,BWmeter,Netpersec) to do this.

    Online tests are tailored to broadband connections not to relatively slow connections like the gprs or edge ones
