    Hey everyone,

I have a psychiatrist friend who has recently started having trouble with Epocrates (and Vindigo). We've spent hours trying to fix the problem, and she's been on customer support with Epocrates trying to fix the problem. I told her I was sure someone here could help. She writess getting these errors:

"Epocrates Server, sync fatal error 10006410" Also "USB device not recognized". Now i'm also having trouble with Vindigo. Am getting "This device does not have any VindigoLink servers associated with it".

    Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Is your friend using ePocrates Pro or the free version? I had tons of problems with the Pro version causing resets so I didn't renew my subscription.

I'm sorry, she's using the Pro version. And now that I think about it, she's also using the Treo 600. I'm probably in the wrong section! Moderators, can you move me? Sorry.

OK...I'm probably breaking some rule here by posting to my own thread to try and keep it alive....I'll just do it this one time. I really need to help my friend with Epocrates....she uses it for work with patients on a daily basis. ANY help would be appreciated. Only thing we have not tried, yet, is a hard reset, which is next but wanted to pick brains here first. THanks.

What server settings do you have setup in the Autoupdate app? Is sounds like these settnig may have been corrupted somehow. Also, check the desktop AutoUpdate conduit that checks the connection and server setup on the computer. Does that work and can you update via hotsync conduit? Also, re-enter the server setting if you can making sure the correct username and password is entered. The setting should be something like:

    Server: ePocrates Server
    Server Address: sync6.epocrates.com
    Port: 80
Enter your ePocrates user name and password

Here is an article form Epoc support site on how to check thsi:

    http://epocrates1.custhelp.com/cgi-b...ted=1003887678

    http://epocrates1.custhelp.com/cgi-b...Z2U9MQ**&p_li=

Also, if that still doesn't work then the most likely cause is that the epoc databases have become corrupt which means the only solution is to delete the app and re-install fresh to the device:

    http://epocrates1.custhelp.com/cgi-b...Z2U9MQ**&p_li=

Also, the usb not recog error may be causd by a faulty usb connection. Try changing usb ports and or the cable. The worst case senario is that you may have to reinstall the Palm desktop if nothing above works..sorry...

Anyway, let me just say that if I were you, I would recommend your friend to get rid of that bloatware junk Epocrates to begin with. It is huge filled with bloat and has **** poor card support to top it off. I would much rather recommend Tarascon etc as an alternative...

    GFUNK,

THANKS for the suggestions. Unfortunately, I've done most of what you've suggested (I'm learning I need to be very specific in my questions so great folks like you have more info to help...SORRY! I'll learn, honest). The autoupdate connects just fine when I test it (per the link you gave). I've uninstalled and re-installed Epocrates (per the other link you gave). My friend has spoken to an Epocrates rep for over an hour doing stuff too. She has changed USB ports AND gotten a new USB cable from Verizon thinking the cable itself might be fried. So it looks like I'm at "the worst case scenerio" stage! Would you recommend uninstalling and reinstalling the Palm Desktop or (and?) doing a hard reset? I know I can search for this on this forum, but do you have a ready link on how I can do these things without her losing a lot of data? THANKS again...you were such a great help.
