    Since you're running the ROW SW, you'll have no problem.

    I didn't think the 650 would see anything greater than a 2 GB SD card, due to the limitation of fat. I was under the impression this was the limit, and not to expect 4 GB SD compatability.

    My 2 GB and 1 GB SD's are full. I would love a 4 GB card if this would work.

    It's true. Unless using FAT32, the largest SD treo 650 can support is 2GB.

    So can a Treo 650 read a FAT32-formatted SD? If so, then surely there's no problem?!

    I'm betting its been tried (reading a fat32 card)...otherwise all these people wouldnt be complaining that it only supports fat.

    Here is someone who just ordered a 4GB card to try and get working on our Treo 650.

    I imagine we should know by the end of next week....

    I can remember when computers with Windows 95 (or was it Windows 98?) could not read hard-drives larger than 2GB.
    That was pretty easily fixed with an operating system upgrade by Microsoft.
    Surely PALM can do it. Please, Please, Please.

    So far, Treo 650 only support FAT file system (16bits). Without any hack or ROM update, treo 650 won't read FAT32. Don't buy a 4GB sd card to try if you don't have any FAT 32 hack (maybe nobody has although one guy claims he extracted the FAT32 driver from LD and it works perfect in treo 650, I just don't believe it).

    Is palm OS even a 32 bit OS. Can FAT32 even be supported on a 16 bit OS?
    Don't hold your breath expecting palm to add this support. There is no financial gain to adding this support for the very lower percentage of Treo customers that would actually want to use a 4GB card.

    It wasn't microsoft that fixed the 2 gig barrier.....it was the motherboards and their firmware...before that it was the 1 gig barrier etc...

    somehow I don't think that we will get a 4 gig card in the 650...that would be more overhead and face it....the 650 is SHORT on memory....

    but alas I knew it when i bought it....yet I still wanted it....

    EAS-Early Adopter Syndrome.....and palm gets to make money on it

    4GB capacity would be so nice
    4GB = so much mp3 music
    4GB = lots and lots of movie's
    4GB = heaps of other files

    I want it bad.

    Will the new firmware fix the 'missing time' problem?
    This is my biggest complain. I keep loosing time whenever treo freezes and have to reboot.

    You not always loose time (that is very important), you always loose forever calls and messages while in freezing status.

    I'm hardly waiting for the update mainly for this reason.
    Ciao.

    So, here's a similar question: I have a Cingular-branded (but unlocked) phone, only with Cingular's latest (v1.15) firmware update. Can I upgrade to a newer version as well? Pros, cons?

    Thanks!

    Losing Time? I've never heard of such a thing. Doesn't it re-set the time from GSM when the phone turns on anyway?

    Nope. I have the same problem.

    Why not enable network time which will continually correct the problem? As I understood it only the original CDMA software had a problem with network time. My unlocked GSM has always been on network time without problem.

    That's been my solution too.
