    Hi all,

I decided to take the plunge to update my ROM. I still have the original ROM from the first batch of Unlocked GSM 650's. I have the link to directions on www.mytreo.net and plan on taking the plunge with customizing using Shadowmite's tool.

However, where I can I find the latest Unlocked GSM firmware ROM (preferably the official one relased by Palm). When I go to their support site, it seems like installing their Updater would not allow me to open and customize the firmware ROM. Is this true? Does anyone have a link to just the ROM file (and not the Palm Updater) so that I can use the ROM Update Tool?

And if their is an updated set of ROM instructions could you point me in the right direction? I have done a search, but really would appreciate an expert here to point me to what has proven to be the latest and most consistently successful instructions.

    Thanks in advance.

I am not a GSM wiz but I think it is the same as the CDMA instructions for capturing the needed files. I think the directions at MTDN leave out the info on capturing. That info can be found on Shadowmites site in step 1 and 2 here http://shadowmite.com/roms.html

And in my instructions in step 2, 3, 4 and 5 here http://discussion.treocentral.com/sh...ad.php?t=97527

    Hi,

    Thank you for the information.

However, I am still not sure where to find the new ROM to modify. That is my major obstacle. I just need to find the firmware ROM to customize. Any help regarding this would be appreciated.

There are some unlocked GSM custom ROM users in my thread. Mabe they could better help you because I guess I dont understand the question. I thought all you had to do was DL the ROM from P1 http://www.palm.com/us/support/downl...lockedgsm.html which is the second link in step 2
http://discussion.treocentral.com/sh...ad.php?t=97527 and pull the ROM from the install folder then cancel the update.

If im out in left field I bet you could get one of the other guys to help you if you posted the question in my thread
