I've been searching past 2 days on this forum and can't find what a hard reset is. I read people saying to do one, but i don't see how to do one.

Also, I tried the firmware upgrade to 1.43 and it says the gsm firmware is not compatible with my treo 650. i'm assuming then i have a cdma which i'm sure i do. is there a firmware upgrade for cdma or just gsm?

My phone is freezing up very frequently.

my software version is 1.12, i don't know where to find my version of the firmware.

If you have 1.12 that is your firmware and you are on Sprint and that is the latest release of firmware for Sprint. I am now going to the Palm Web site to find a link to resets and what they do. . . . be back in a moment. . .

    http://kb.palm.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE?New,kb=PalmSupportKB,CASE=obj(887),ts=Palm_External2001#top

paste the above into your browser. . . .

    or go to www.palm.com
click on support and type "resets" in the search box

This will explain the various types of resets, what they do and how to do them. . .

    Cheers, Perry

If you have 1.12, that is the latest.

    If you go to www.palm.com
    click on support
select your model (Sprint Treo 650)
You will go to a help page specific to your device and carrier. . . .
Some interesting info there, which will catch you up to date. . .

Freezing up can come from 3rd party software conflicts. To put your Treo back in a fresh state:

    hot sync
rename your backup folder on the PC to backupold
    Programs>Palm>userid>backup to backupold
the backup folder is where 3rd party programs and settings are stored for backup to your Treo, renaming the folder takes them out of the loop.
hard reset the Treo (erases all data)
    hot sync again
You should have a clean Treo with just your PIM data brought back (Contacts, Appointments, Tasks, Memos)
    Freezing should be gone.
Run for a day or two and see what happens.

Re-install 3rd party software one at a time to see who the culprit is. . .
