Look for Applications (not files) that you can move (or better still, install) to the SD card.

Give us a list of what you see when you do a Menu->Delete

That will list the applications that you have installed. We can recommend from there.

any good way to export that list or shoul di just type it al out?
  4. #4
Just give us the list of applications (icons you see) in the All category on your phone. That will be a much shorter list and will cover 99% of the applications you have.

    Generally speaking:

    1. If you use a 3rd party launcher (Zlauncher, powerrun, initiate), you can move almost all applications to the card.
    2. Dataviz has a utility (dataviztech.prc) that will move most of the Documents to Go to the card
    3. Applications that hook into the system (VolumeCare, Butler, CardExport, Keycaps, keyshades, Treoguard etc.) or have alarms or timed operations (TreoAlarm, 4Cast etc) or have to Hotsync information (AvantGo, AudioList, MovieGuide) need to reside in RAM.
    4. Applications that load when you run them, do their thing, and quit when you exit (eg, most games, FileZ, Resco Explorer, Directory Assistant, Keyshades Light) can be installed to the card.

Try deleting the application (in Menu -> Delete) and installing to Card (using QuickInstall). Keep good backups. You may need registration codes when you re-install.

The thing to keep in mind is that if you delete the applicaton from RAM (using Menu Delete), it will remove all entries in the SavedPreferences file corresponding to that application. Hence, an install to card is required after that step (requiring the registration codes).

Or get Powerrun or Zlauncher and save youself the trouble of figuring all this out!!

With zLauncher, select an app with the 5 way and hold down the center button. When the pop up menu comes up select Move To Card.
    Palm III > HS Visor > Treo 600 > Treo 650 > Treo 750 > Treo Pro > PrePlus GSM

If it hasn't already been said... Anything that doesn't run all the time (email programs periodically checking mail, things like VolumeCare, Butler, etc) can likely be moved to the SD card. 90% of my applications are on SD. The only ones I keep in ram are the ones I have to, or the ones which I use all the time and don't want to wait a few seconds for it to load.

Re: HotSync: Not strictly true, at least for those using Launcher X. If you move an app that hotsync's to the SD card, you can drop it back onto the SD icon and get prompted to create a link instead of copying or moving it back to RAM. The link will cause the program to be launched from the SD as if it were in memory. I can't say I've closely evalutated other launchers, but I've never heard of any other one having this feature.

ZLauncher of course has this feature.. A small program stub is left in ram which allows hotsyncing of programs on the SD card.

As khaytsus says, my answer was for the stock Applications launcher.

OP uses Zlauncher, which changes everything :-)
(I should have spotted the Zlauncher files in his file list ..)

    OK:
Total newbie here. I don't have a quicklauncher program, or Zlauncher or anything like that.
And I don't have too many third party apps on my Treo at all. And yet, I seem to be very low on memory.
Can I move Snapper Mail or Vindigo (my two biggest memory eaters) to my SD Card?
I've tried to move Snapper in the past, but then I was no longer able to program the email button (shortcut) to access it. Is there someway around this? I like being able to access my email by hitting one button and don't want to have to go to the SD Card every time. Also, I can't tell if Vindigo will work from the SD Card.
Does anyone know? If someone could explain which items can be moved to the SD card in plain English (not RAM/Treo speak) I would GREATLY appreciate it.
    Thanks,.

I just installed PowerRUN on my treo 650. Can I move Snappermail to the SD Card and still get it to work from the shortcut key, etc.?

Not if you want it to auto-fetch email at specified intervals. For that, it needs to be in RAM.
