All of a sudden, Blazer has decided not to play.

It says it connects to GPRS OK, but then sits there with 'Sending' at the top left of the screen and doesn't receive at all.

I know Vodafone's GPRS service can be patchy but Versamail is able to download emails OK, so I assume the signal is there OK.

I don't have any 3rd party software loaded, the only change I've made recently is to buy a new desktop, so I'm now synching to the new one. Could that have changed anything in Blazer? If so, what?

    TIA

Try taking the battery out and waiting for 10 secs. This little trick worked for me.

Cheers, John, but had tried that and as well as a soft reset. Tried the battery trick again in case I hadn't left it long enough but no dice.

As well as being able to download emails, I find that I can use WAP if I stick my SIM in my old phone. So it looks as though it comes down to Blazer.

Is there some way I can reset or reinstall Blazer, or erase the existing settings to make it start again?

    I don't really believe this.

I have tried dealing with Tech Support by email but, not only have they not addressed the issue of getting Blazer going again (can I uninstall it and reinstall? They don't tell me), but they've suggested I download a browser from Eudora instead!!

I could see nothing on www.eudora.com to begin with but a more detailed search of their website shows 'Eudora Internet Suite' for Palm hidden away under 'Archived software'.

But it's obsolete, no longer supported and apparently not compatible with Windows XP.

I have tried connecting via GSM and Blazer has the same problem, so it looks as though it is Blazer and not my GPRS connection that's at fault.

    Well...give Xiino a try.

It might come to that, Bill, but I'm a bit reluctant to pay for something (and use up more precious memory space) when I already have something that's supposed to do the job (and did do it till about 2 weeks ago).

Is it possible to uninstall/reinstall Blazer or kickstart it in any other way?

Actually, I suggested Xiino as a method to finally determine whether the problem is actually Blazer; if it doesn't work either, then the problem is either your carrier, your signal strength or your hardware.

Try manually clearing the cache and cookies then browsing to a different webpage.

I've also noticed this when my signal connection is weak so make sure you're in an area with a strong connection.

Yes, fraid I've done all that Keith, to no avail.

I've also tried it in other areas with stronger signals etc etc.

It just sits there saying 'Sending...' for ever.

Hello, hang on, there is something interesting here. I've just cleared cookies and cache yet again, both to 0kb, exited Blazer and restarted it. If I go back to cookies and cache, they are back, and always to the same figures (765b cookies, 1kb cache). It seems to happen the same way every time. Does yours do that?

That's true. Trouble is, I might like it ;-)

OK, well I did download Xiino and it works fine with Blazer's default network connection (Vodafone GPRS).

Hopefully tech support will have a solution before my 30 days evaluation runs out!

I'm having the exact same problem. I got a unlocked palm 650 on the cingular network. it would hang in the same way and also started 2 weeks ago. Don't know what's going on, tried everything including a hard reset and it still hangs. The web works when i put the sim chip into another phone, so i know it isn't the network. I'll also try emailing palm tech support to see what they have to say.

    Ok try this.
Using filz or zlauncher make a manual backup of "NetworkProfiles2" onto a safe place (i.e. SD card etc.), delete the file from NVFS and try Blazer again.

I had a similar problem directly after upgrading my Palm Desktop which also upgraded this file. Deleting the file "apparently" allowed Blazer to work. The file was restored after a hotsync but Blazer still worked. I suspect it could be a bad DNS server address cached into the file. I really don't know. Perhaps someone out there could explain...

So what happens when you try Balzer again, does it recreate this file? Do any settings need to be put back in?

Oops, I meant Blazer, but Balzer sounds like a better description of the way it's behaving!

I really don't know but there's no risk as you can always reinstall the file from the backup. I know this does not make sense but this is what worked for me a few months back after some hours of experimenting. It's worth the try...

Nope. Tho it did give me the odd scary moment (and it isn't even Hallowe'en any more!) when Balzer complained of 'incomplete setup' and the Prefs, Network page was blank. Had to hotsynch the old file back in the end.

Back as we were, Xiino connects, Balzer doesn't, using the same network setup etc.

Just checking the obvious but do you have a proxy setup in Blazer?
If so because it's required (sorry no experience here with Vodafone), is it the correct one for Vodafone?

    Hey, it's the answer!

Yes, 'Use default carrier proxy' was ticked.

I looked in Xiino, which was working, and saw that 'Proxy' was not ticked.

So I unticked 'Use default carrier proxy' and it seems to be back to normal. No idea how it got ticked in the first place, unless it was something to do with synching to a freshly installed Palm Desktop on my new PC.

Thanks to all (except Palm Tech Support, obviously!) for all your help.
