Sorry if my posts confused me. On another thread, I posted that I was inspired to go back to 1.14 due to the success of another forum member from another site (Mapalad.org) I did overlook some settings and have already made adjustments. I've been reset free for 4 days now, a new Treo 650 record! Previously, I would have ProfileCare automatically reset before a scheduled backup at 3:07 am. Launching Blazer can be annoying at times as the system releases free and max dbcache for the app. But that is a small discomfort for the stability Garnet 5.4.8 brings. : )

I updated to the 1.14 full rom and now I have lots of resets and unwanted crashes. I have problems with LightWav - I've reset in incoming call, I have problem with PocketTunes too. And I get reset everytime I am trying write different letter via ALT key and PiLoc.

So, I'd like do downgrade to official 1.12 software, but I can't. Updater says that I have newer version instaled and cancel upgrade process.

Do you have any suggestions? Or could anybody do change of updater.prc to bypass checking function?

You have to first load 1.23 and then load the official 1.13 updater from Palm.

Search for 1.23 and you can find download links.

I installed 1.14 / 1.43 and there's no looking back. The biggest thing for me is the improvement in Bluetooth / carkit compatibility! After installing the "official Palm" 1.13 for GSM ROW, I LOST Bluetooth support for my UConnect car system, even though Palm swears that the carkit updater is now built-in to the updaters. With this version, not only does the Treo / UConnect operate well again, but I now also get the signal strength indication on the car display! (Now, if they can only get the battery level working...)

Also, VersaMail 3.1C works well (yeah, I hafta use it for corp email ActiveSync), Blazer 4.2 SEEMS to render pages more quickly (I was getting EDGE already @ about 120K, and it's still there, but it seems "snappier" and doesn't CRASH).

So far, my rather small cache of 3rd party software is working well with 1.14 / 1.43 too - Chatter, Verichat, Ringo, ZLauncher, PTunes all work fine under this (OS 5.4.8).

Phone volume is better on the handset, clearer, and no feedback for me. There's a new(?) popup window that appears at the end of call, which is cool.

Almost forgot - speakerphone volume is LOUD now! MAN - what a huge difference.

And I've got 96% free memory! Woo hoo! So anyway, yeah - this update ROCKS. I'll be running this one until Palm "officially" releases it.

    This is unlocked gsm.
When pressing alt in memo or documents (have not experimented much on other apps) it resets.
Might be that I have localization (russian lang). However, it resets in both, russian and english keys enabled.

Regarding everything else - seems a little bit better.

Another thing noticed is a small triangle on antenna icon. Might be an indication of GPRS or EDGE availability? Have not seen that before.

Are you using 1.14 row or 1.13 row? I have 1.13/1.43 and do not get the alt key resets in memos etc.

    1.14/1.43
    Why to use 1.43 w/o 1.14?

I'm using 1.14/1.43 and don't have any alt key trouble either. I think the problem, as was suspected by the poster, has to do with his localization app.

1.43 is just the radio FW update. Most people are going this route from what I can tell.

    I am using 1.13/1.43.

I pretty much everyone already reported.
    (1) Better volume
    (2) Signal not any better
    (3) Better (shorter) dial tone

Not long enough for me to discern whether weak signal hang / slow-down.

Good upgrade in general. I wish it can be a stronger reciever (better signal) but that is not to be.

I've been running well with 1.43/1.14dbg.
I had one reset when launching Blazer. But that's one reset in five days, as opposed to five resets in one day that I used to have with 1.28/1.13row. I was glad to get rid of Real Player and VersaMail (I use ChatterEmail.) I just beamed the Calculator back from a colleague's Treo. It's in RAM, but I can live with that for now.
When I get brave I will build a custom ROM nad cram as much as I can back in ROM, but in the meantime, I am enjoying the peace. (From at least this part of my life.)

Well now a few days into using this ROM, I think I know what is causing my battery drain.
It only happens from accessing the SD-Card (eg. Playing mp3's etc).
This leads me to think that they have updated the FAT driver and this is what is causing the issue.
As I touched on in an earlier post. Some one pulled the FAT driver from the Lifedrive and people were installing it into their Treo650. Most of these people reported a speed increase and faster battery drain.

Can anyone somehow confirm what FAT driver is in this release?

To make the TREO 650 work best use this if you dont have a calc. and a tool that controls your radio. (turn it on after crash..etc.) you can also add it to the ace-palmos.zip

Does anyone know how i can get the original calculator from the full rom? what is the file called?

I used to crash in Blazer too and did the following to be reset free.
    1. Removed scroll jump
    2. Removed FontSmoother
    3. Increased cache to 5mb and enabled delete cache upon exit.
I haven't had any resets since then.

I advice you not to build a custom ROM and fill it to the brim. You will only risk your Treo turning to a brick if you exceed the 8mb limit. You will also decrease available dbcache. The risks outweigh the benefits of adding custom apps in ROM.

Hey, upgraders. Over at MTDN in the Velocityware forum they are waxing rhapsodic about the latest firmware and it's ability to magically transform Callfilter into an application again. Any comments?

In Blazer, some pics show up and some don't. It seems like if i click a thumbnail to open in full view, the pics won't show up.

Is anyone else experiencing this? Try it!!!!

Ok, if anyone's having the problem i'm having, just click use custom proxy and use wireless.cingular.com and all should be well! I kinda ran into the solution while messing around with proxies.

I'm having trouble backing up with BackupMan since updating to 1.43/1.14. Unless I soft reset IMMEDIATELY before backing up, I get a system error - "not enough memory". Anyone else have this problem before I go back and try again?

Resco Backup 1.30 is the solution. : )
