    After reading a NY Times article a few weeks ago, I saw that free directory assistance has two major players. 1 800 411 METRO and 1 800 FREE 411. They're both pretty good; however 1800 411 METRO will connect you to your business listings and FREE 411 will not, which can be a pain if you're out don't have any means of writing a number down. Food for thought.

    Yeah, it looks like Free 411 has such a consistent high call volume that they no longer connect the calls for free. It's a hassle to get the number and then have to jot it down while driving. I'm giving the Metro Free 411 a try now.
