Im a licensed Realtor & I wanted 2 know if there are any tech tips or apps u guys know of that I dont that may be able 2 help me. When I say tech tips I mean pda apps, pc software etc. Things 2 be more productive & organized. I have a Tom Tom gps in the mail now for a gps.

I currently have the 650 & a Clie Ux50. I bought the Treo b/c I couldnt get full Access of the MLS from Netfront on the Clie. On the MLS, I can get as far as finding a search but once I click on the listing, Netfront wont load the page. I purchased the Treo b/c I thought I would be able 2 view the info that I couldnt on my Clie, but I've found out that this info cant be viewed on the Treo either.

Im also not able 2 access my companies secure intRanet site @ all from my Treo or Clie.

80% of the folks in my office have Blackberries & I refused 2 purchase 1 b/c I would have only used it 4 business. I use the Treo for business as well as personal. (Docs 2 Go, checkbook, mp3s, Verichat etc) Im wondering if I would have been better off with the BB instead....

    Thx 4 any input.

believe it or not, i got a treo for personal use, and a crappy verison phone for business. they gave me a laptop so i use that for everything else i need.
i reccomend using a nice program for business phone numbers. u have docs to go, use excel, if u know how to use it youll b able to set up pretty much anything..

since u have ur treo only, set up the calancer on that to beep u in to call people back or to set up appointments.
i use my laptop for all that. good luck.

I think the MLS requires a lot of memory to properly access it in your Treo or any PDA for that matter. There is a software called Pocket Realtor (not sure about the right name) which downloads the current MLS listings to your PDA when you synch with your PC. I attended the promo meeting but found out that it is not Mac compatible. The best way to access info in the MLS in your Treo would be to log in to your local Real Estate Board and do your public home search from there. My way is to bring my laptop and access the full MLS site thru my Treo Cingular DUN, if wifi is not available. I still find this too slow when showing info to a client.

Realistically, the best way is still to phone the office or get back to my Powerbook and do my homework before I go out to battle. I think the black berries are no match to the Treo 650 with what you can do with it in Real Estate. The "WOW" factor alone is a great icebreaker when you meet a prospect for the first time!

my wife is a realtor, and i set her 650 up so she can view mls listings (call your board and they will give you the site, if it is available) some realtors can also use the 650 as a supra key (again, call your board to see if this is available for you) she has printboy for printing out docs while on the road, loan wizard calulator, and docs to go for storing contracts and such on the 650. my wife finds the 650 very useful as a realestate agent.

p.s. she veiws mls listings free via a site her board gave her. the supra key on the 650 isnt supported right now in her area but is coming soon.

    i hope this helps

Thx 4 the info folks........So far, I have Docs 2 Go, I already have been using the builtin contacts , calendar, & memo pad 4 storing info. I have Mega Calculator & Loan calculator for calculating mortgages.

The only issue I have now is accessing the MLS. I can bring up the site, enter a address search & it will find it. Once I attempt 2 click on the link 2 view the listing details, it doesnt load. I was testing this earlier 2day & noticed something weird. As I said b4, I cant access listing by their site but when I email clients listings & bcc myself I receive an email with a link. From Snapper mail, when I click on the link, it automaticlly launches Blazer & opens the full listing!!

The point here is that most of the real estate-specific functionality that you're seeking depends on your local real estate board, to a great extent. THEY have to do a deal with Pocket Real Estate, for instance. THEY have to do a deal with Supra for the eKey and iBoxes, for instance. If you're hoping to use your Treo to access the same sites for MLS and such that you would with your laptop - that won't be a very useful experience, ultimately. You need to use programs and accessing site that are handheld-specific. What companies like Pocket Real Estate (and others) do is contract with various area boards of realtors to 'mobilize' their MLS systems. Check with your board to see if that's been done.

Here's a program that brings most cities MLS to their Treo. It's not expensive but I've read that it works great. In St. Louis our Coldwell Banker site has pretty much the same thing for free to its agents. I love it.

Great app. Too bad it doesn't look like Greater Capital Association of REALTORS support is on their agenda.

ZipRealty Mobile (has screenshot of Treo 650 displaying mobile version of ZipRealty)

Get the data you need - wherever you are!

If you're always on the go, you'll love this new feature. Now you can access property prices, descriptions, and pictures from your ZipRealty account by using a web-enabled wireless device.

    It's easy - here's how:

    (1) Simply point your mobile device to http://mobile.ziprealty.com
    (2) Sign in to your ZipRealty account
    (3) Search the entire MLS by any combination of:
Street Name (partial names are OK)
    City (partial names are OK)
    MLS Number
    You can also:
    Save homes to My ZipRealty
Contact your agent for more information
    Schedule property visits

So, the next time you drive by a home and wonder how much it's selling for, just pull out your mobile device and check with ZipRealty's mobile MLS search. Any information you view or save through your mobile device will be reflected in your ZipRealty account.

Ours did too. I guess you have Rappitoni as well. I was trying to figure out how to use mine for the new boxes as well.
