Something that you should consider when/if you rewrite 4cast to update in the background:

I seem to have some strange luck/timing with 4cast. I have it set to update once an hour. I seem to open 4cast 3 or 4 minutes before it would normally update. It will then go ahead and update at that time (and leave the program just like someone above noted). 3 or 4 minutes later it will again update itself from the automatic schedule. It might be nice to have it push the time of its next autoupdate until an hour after the last time it updated rather than basing it upon a set schedule no matter what has occurred since the last previously scheduled update.

I'm not advocating this be done by itself. Just something to consider if and when you update 4cast's updating routine.

    Hi,

Posted new version of TAKEphONE, 2day, 4cast & 2dial, to help resolve an issue with the Palm image library tha caused TreoLauncher to not use its wallpaper.

(for TAKEphONE & 2day there are more changes - please check the “changes history” link at the beta page).

The new versions can be downloaded at the beta page.

    Thanks.

    Hi all,

I guess it might be the time to start thinking about what many asked for - an alternative weather source to Yahoo.

So - a poll - what website would you preffer ?

Please note: since adopting to another website format takes quite an effort, I can not support languages other than English, and will not support country/region specific sites - only ones that cover all of our planet...

My first option would be The Weather Channel: www.weather.com

    Yours ?

    Yahoo uses Weather Channel data.

    I like http://www.wunderground.com/

I've found Wunderground forecasts and current conditions are not as accurate as The Weather Channel, at least where I live. Yahoo seems to have regular problems updating the information it receives. My pick would be The Weather Channel which would eliminate the middle man.
Visor Deluxe->Visor Edge (Upgraded for $100.00 just by giving them the Serial # of my Visor Deluxe plus I got to keep the Deluxe. Those were the days!)-> Palm M-505->M-515->Tungsten T->Zire 72->Treo 650->->Treo 700P->Treo 755P. Plus various replacements. 8130 Pearl....Sorry

    Well here's my 2 cents.

My first choice is WeatherBug. It allows you to choose a weather station closer to your neighborhood to get current condition. They use neighborhood schools as collection points for temps/winds etc. And their maps are great.

    Another choice would be NOAA

The Weather Channel doesn't use Yahoo. Yahoo uses the Weather Channel.

I prefer weatherunderground and/or the weather channel over accuweather.

I vote The Weather Channel. Any chance updating in the background is in the plans too?

I personally like the weather channel data for forecasts and temps. However, wunderground has a good mobile version of the radar loop.

Their radar loop on the mobile site is the reason why I was exclusively using their site in blazer.

I'd prefer Wunderground. Weather.com would be my second choice.

Don't know what source they use, but the hourly rain forecasts on TreoCiel are great.

    Shimon,

Could you see if you can add locations in 4Cast? I tried several times earlier, I was online and able to access webpages, etc, but within 4Cast the lookups always failed.

Try New York City, etc.. Ones that should work.
