I'm looking at my desktop cradle options. The supplied cord is just not cutting it. From what I have researched cradles either are powered by the USB or through a seperate power cord. As USB charging can be VERY slow, I am sure I want one with a seperate power adapter.

I also see that some have a hotsync button while others do not. The button is also a must for me as I don't want to have to open the app everytime I want to hotsync.

I bought a no-name cradle on ebay, but the cords are only about 2 feet long and the USB connector is hardwired so it cant be switched out. It also has a blue led that is increadibly bright and serves no purpose - it is always on.

Are all 650 cradles USB 2.0? Or are some of the cheap ones USB 1.0?

The connector on the bottom also seems to come in two forms. One actually plugs into the Treo (like the supplied cord). Others just make contact with the contacts on the bottom of the treo using the weight of the treo in the cradle to keep the connection - these are much easier to put in and out of the cradle.

So. . . can anyone point me to a cradle with: (1) an independent power supply; (2) a dedicated hotsync button; (3) at least 4 feet of cord length; (4) USB 2.0 compliant; and (5) non-plugin connector?

Nope. It only uses the USB cable to charge. I want one with an AC adapter as well. The USB charge takes a very long time. Also, it only comes with a short cable and has the plug-type connection which can be difficult to take the Treo out of.

Here's a nice one, if a little pricey:

    From the Engadget story itself:

For your $179 you also get a line out and that whole regular docking/charging-by-USB thing that the kids seem to enjoy so much these days.

Actually, that's not quite correct. You can use a wall charger. although the usb cable plugs into that.
Unfortunately, your choices seem pretty limited.

So you are suggesting that I crawl behind my computer to unplug the USB, plug the USB into my new AC adapter end, then find the power strip hidden somewhere under my desk to find a free AC outlet and let the treo charge. Then, when I want to sync, do it all over again?

    I think not.

I'll tell you - the OEM cradle is looking better and better. If only it were designed by someone who actually tested it on a Treo to be sure it worked.

    Hi,

Seidio offers AC power kit that allows you to charge Innodock with Wall charger. Innodock comes with long USB cable. With this AC power kit, you can connect Innodock to laptop and wall charger at the same time, so, even when you turn off your computer, you can still charge Innodock.

Innodock also provides you with audio line out.

Read the prior post from seidioseidio...you would only have to plug it in once. And while you're back there pluging it in, you could organize your SH*t so you wouldn't have such problems in the future...or is that too simple?

Whats the problem with the OEM one? Mine works great. It has the AC charger you seek and it has a sync button. Even flips down to chare a spare battery. Plus the phone looks awsome sitting in it

    In my case, I need

    1) Audio out
    2) I do not want to take Treo out of the case everytime when I dock it.
    3) I prefer the color one, not black.

And how does the seidio one not meet those requirements??
