Using a factory unlocked treo 650 on tmobile. The vibrate used to work for me after a soft reset and redoing sound prefs. Now, that isn't working. I am wary about doing a hard reset as I just spent the last two weeks getting my palm perfect. The applications that I think could be contributing to the problem are butler, ringo, chatter, and volumecare. Trying to test vibrate from any application isn't helping. Does anyone have any suggestions outside of doing a hard reset?

    Are you using DateBook5?

I get the same problem, and I can usually get it working again by going into datebook5 preferences and turning the vibrate on and off.

    Most frustrating.

I have none of your listed apps except VolumeCare, and the problem started well before I installed it.

I am hopeful that Jeff will make a VibrateCare which will solve this problem for me by forcing and on/off cycle of vibrate at least when it is triggered by Datebook5 as well as adding some vibrate customization that folks seem to want.

Thanks for the quickreply. No I use agendus 10. This is so frustrating! I wish could more easily be controlled. I need my phone on vibrate most of the day. Not looking forward to the hard reset or partying with the toy I just got!

Bump for anyone who can help. If I do a hard reset and restore backup, will all my prefs be saved?

Provided it was a good backup, yes.

Well, I have tried a hard reset now. That didn't work either. Anybody have any ideas before I get palm involved? I hate calling support when they ask you to do everything you just did again.

If you want to track down the cause (I'll guarantee you it's software, not hardware, related) you can't just restore everthing after the hard reset. Do this:
    1. Rename your desktop /Palm/<username>/Backup folder (to, say, backupold)
    2. Perform a hard reset
    3. HotSync

That'll load your PIM data, but none of your 3rd party software.

Now, in Preferences, Sound&Alerts, Application=Calendar, set your alarm tone, volume and vibrate = on. Create an appointment with an alarm in the Calendar and watch it go off...does it vibrate?

Doesn't sound as though your problem is mechanical, but just in case, this worked for me on a 600:
