Why does Chatter need to set an active alarm every 10 seconds? Just curious.

That's the way it works in most circumstances; the effect on battery life is minimal.

As an experiment, I disabled Chatter and disconnected the mailboxes and ran PalmInternals again. Now I have a program setting alarms every 1 second instead of 10. It has the same ID as Chatter: 73216336. Why is Chatter setting alarms every 1 second when disabled?

    Chatter doesn't do that.

I reset and I now can't duplicate the behavior. It was the strangest thing. The alarm was updated on every refresh. Weird.

Does the efficient sync basically make this time interval longer?

No, and this causes VERY little battery drain.
