Normally Shortcut5 works well with DateBk5 for datestamp ".ds".

However, when I pull up a saved view (dbView) then the ".ds" does not work. It simply enters as ".ds" but does not then change over to the actual date.

Any ideas? Better programs for a solution?

Does the built-in shortcut facility work in your saved view? s<alt><alt><alt><alt><space>ds
    V > Vx > m505 > m515 > T/T > T3 > TC > 650 > 680

    Bill,

Thanks for taking to the time to help me out.

When I went to try the s<alt><alt><alt><alt><space>ds, it erases the shortcut sign when I hit the "d" button. Do I have to set up something in my parameters to accept this "built in" shortcut?

I had the same problem just in the memo pad when I tried it.

Install these two files directly (not via Hotsync), and try again. You'll also have an interface available now in Preferences for editing shortcuts.

    Sorry...

Can you give more details on adding "directly" vs. "hotsync"

Download from the link to your phone, or to your card and then copy to your phone.
    V > Vx > m505 > m515 > T/T > T3 > TC > 650 > 680

    Bill,

    I am slow

Are you saying I should get this file over my phone and not download it to my computer first?

When I said "save to card" I could not find it on the card then. Am I missing and "un-zipper" or something?

Thanks for your patience with me.

When you save then to your card, just remember which directory you saved them in.
Then you can just move them to Ram from the card.

Do you have a file manager?
A free program like "filez" might make it a little easier for you.

I'm sorry, I just remembered this site's weird glitch with Blazer that names anything you download, "attachment.php". To use the files after downloading to your card, you'd have to rename them. Forget it.

Download them to your desktop computer and mail them to your phone.

I havent used filez in a while Bill.
Can he rename the files with "filez"?

He might as well learn how to use a filemanager now if he plans to keep that 650! It will make things a lot easier for him.

Thanks. I got my Treo now to do regular shortcuts....

    1. How to I set up for a date stamp.
    2. Also, does everyone have to go through this with the Treo for shortcuts? Is this program not native?
    3. I will then follow through with Bill's suggestion to see if this works in DateBK5 or not.

Are you saying that s<alt><alt><alt><alt><space>ds doesn't work now in memos?
    V > Vx > m505 > m515 > T/T > T3 > TC > 650 > 680

    Correct.

I can set up a short cut (such as ds = whatever) and "whatever" will pop up when I put in "shorcut" "ds" but not an actual date. Do I have to program this in the shortcuts? I seem to remember I had to set this up on earlier palms.
  14. #14
Did you install both files? Hmmm...OK, I thought you'd already have that. The shortcut text for ds is @DS and for dts it's @DTS.

    Bill,

    I am SLOW...

I set the shortcut name to: ds

I set the shortcut text to: @ds

But nothing is happening. When I put in "s<alt><alt><alt><alt><space>ds" all I get to pup up is "@ds".

    Thanks again for your patience.

P.s. I am trying to figure this out so I can get back to your earlier helpful question to see if this will work in the DateBk5 saved view (ultimately to see if I can get ".ds" to work in the saved view).
  16. #16
No, not "@ds". The macro command has to be uppercase; so "@DS" for date stamp and "@DTS" for date-time stamp.

    Thanks!

Ok. To answer the questions finally, yes the builtin date stamp works in the saved view (dbView), while ShortCut5 does not.

    Any further ideas?
  18. #18
Nope. I would say that's the solution.

I'm joining the thread late ... So what does this mean?

Built-in shortcuts (very limited) will work in Datebk5 but the ones I add (I have the 2 files Bill G posted installed) won't?
