When I synchronize my Versamail program with both Outlook and Yahoo IM via my desktop (using Bluetooth) it can take up to fifteen minutes to complete, even though it may only be adding a couple of new email messages to each account. I have both accounts set to only download mail from the past seven days, but these settings have little impact on the length of time that it takes to do routine, two or three times a day desktop syncs.

Back in the days of my Handspring Visor and the old Palm Email app, the whole Outlook sync routine was over in but a few seconds. What in blue blazes requires such long sync times with Versamail and the Treo 650?
