I have an unlocked, Cingular-branded 650, on the T-mobile network w. the unlimited internet option.

Every time I tried to get the DUN to work, it always gives me a security error and says that the pairing failed.

    What should I do?

    Firmware: 1.31
    Software: Treo650-1.15-CNG

P.S. This software doesn't disable DUN, since the option is there.

What's the exact message? Better yet, use the Search feature with the error number as the search term. You might also think about using PdaNet.
    V > Vx > m505 > m515 > T/T > T3 > TC > 650 > 680

I think there is a bug in the new BT DUN, it used to work fine, but since the update I have to re-pair after every connection.

I got a Sprint TREO 650 last week and have used BT DUN flawlessly. I love it! No problems to date here.

OK... If I add the computer to my trusted device list before trying to connect, the pairing gets set up fine, and DUN works without a problem (as in it's really flaky in terms of signal strength, but it does work).
However, after each disconnect, I have to repeat the whole procedure to get it to connect again - delete the computer from "trusted devices" and then re-pair.

On the other hand, if I try to pair FROM the computer, it always gives me the same Error in Pairing.

Me too I guess - has anyone tried the newest firmware to see if it fixes the problem?

Note the firmware in my signature. What is the version number of the firmware to which you refer?

That is indeed the newest firmware. I was under the impression that there was a newer one. I guess we'll all just have to hold our breath for the fix... not.

Interestingly enough - if I disconnect from BT by turning it off on the Treo, I can connect again w/o having to re-pair again... but only on the 2nd try.

If the connection is lost, or disconnected on the PC end, then it won't connect again until I re-pair.

    Hi, all.
After MUCH experimentation, I have finally enabled bluetooth DUN with a treo 650 and an e-machines WinXP box. I am glad I held out on paying those money-grubbers at junefabrics.com for their product, because 1) They want too much money for it, 2) In my experience, when I attempted to download too many things at once it dropped the connection, and 3) The trial period actually ended after 2 days, not the the 15 that they state on the website!!
These may not be directly applicable to your situation, but I have a couple of tips for those struggling. 1) In the Palm.com PDF about setting up bluetooth DUN in step 6 they talk about the extra initialization string. The BONEHEADS left spaces here: <"AT+CGDCONT=1, "ip", "XXX">. I thought I'd be slick and copy and paste this, but was FOILED because of it. 2) It never hurts to clean everything up related to bluetooth on the computer and treo and reset/reboot. 3) I would also recomend (after cleaning everyting up you can think of) starting with loading competant drivers on the PC first, THEN connect the USB bluetooth adapter (if applicable) THEN start DUN on the treo (all with reboots interspersed).
    I hope this helps...

Took me three days of playing around, but I finally got mine working too. I'm using the newest Kensington USB 2.0 Bluetooth adapter with my Win XP Toshiba laptop. I've got the Cingular Treo 650 with the latest firmware (as of a couple months ago). I too had the above mentioned issues while trying to get it working, but once it was working, there were no more pairing issues, etc. Knock on wood and keep on going. ;-)
